Is it possible to re-panel everything to change colour?

Hey guys,
Just thinking here... I don't yet know how to paint and it's expensive and yadda yadda yaddaa... money.

Is it possible to repanel a 2? i.e. buy all the panels in the colour of your choice to effect a colour change? I appreciate you can't do the windscreen surround and the engine bay etc would still be your base colour, but if I was ok with that. Is it even possible?

dan944

Simple answer is yes I think.

Then just black the surround with plastidip. Looks better imho anyway.

I've thought about doing it to mine as it is currently 3 different yellows. P

This is brilliant by the way. Because essentially,

Buy a new mr2 in the right colour,

Swap panels,

Sell mr2

Free/ very cheap color change??

Thanks Dan & Scott,
I honestly would love to make it blue - always liked that colour.

Really think it's easier/cheaper to find a bunch of nice panels than it is to get a car prepped and sprayed..

There's not many parts that don't bolt on/off, mainly windscreen surround, sills and scuttle plate at bottom of the hood.
I've been wanting my windscreen surround painting black for ages but know I can't do it myself [emoji23]

@1979scotte You should get some black panels... that'd look cool.. mainly black with a flash of yellow..

@dan944 what colour would you go for?

Eventually my car will be a Renault colour J37.

The decision and consensus of the thread is swapping panels is easier than wrapping and somewhat cheaper too!  8)

You could wrap it yourself?

That would be cheap!

@1979scotte I believe you are correct. Were they all the same though?

@jvanzyl I was more thinking of changing the panels, but I suppose vinyl could work. Car does need to be really clean though. I am also thinking too many cooks would spoil the broth, so to speak.
There was a chap on here that started it as a living. He came to Marble Arch with us, Pete, I think. Drove a white one. @1979scotte will remember him.

Or we could do it as a kind of crowd funding, each bring a different panel and build it on the day, obviously that's never going to happen due to the logistics but it would be a hoot seeing what you ended up with [emoji23]
At least I know you won't want to be borrowing any of my panels in the night.
