So I'm in to a cheap A'PEXi fc my friend has an rx7 and wants to nut bolt restore it so I can have it dirt cheap. Question is if I take it will it fit or were they model specific.

Could I flash it and find/put a base map or would it be a tuner.

Any recommendations for tuners in England around berkshire don't mind a bit of travel.
I like it sideways!!

Specific to each make of car.

The whole point of the PFC is that it is plug and play to specific car models.

It's old hat and past it anyway.
Look at ECUmaster classic instead
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm glad you're happy.
Doesn't change the above facts.

In standard form it has no map sensor no knock control and no wideband AFR input.

At £700 new it's simply ridiculous.
£450 secondhand is better but a brand new ECUmaster classic with loom and AFR sensor is only £760.

The current 1zz/2zz RRR deal for ECUmaster black is unbeatable. £1000 supplied fitted mapped.

Any first hand experiences with ECUmaster? Looking for an alternative to Apexi that makes more sense in 2021. For 2zz swap naturally. Cheers

Talk to the guys in Poland. On a price per pound basis I don't think it can be bettered.
I've got the classic on my supercharged V6.
I didn't fit it or map it but those that did were happy with it.

The world has changed per 31 Dec 2021: Poland being EU, the price may not be per pound in the UK anymore. Make sure to check VERY WELL!

Exaclty why I said ask the guys in Poland.

@Petrus  the ecumaster will still work out cheaper than a new Zealand Link or an English Syvecs although something like a the english emerald K6 may now be more cost effective. Oh and motorsport electronics amongst others. Lucky for us we have plenty of good home grown solutions.

For sure.

Although it's not always easy.

Quite. The muncipality is still confined whereas restrictions in just about all of the country are relaxed.
BUT!, my son surprisedly appeared this morning (had hitched a ´blabla-car´ride) and we had a lovely lunch on a sunbathed terrace just up the road.
First tme we´ve seen him since new year, the restaurants/cafés were closed for several weeks too.
So bith literally and figuratively speaking sunny!

Back on topic the Toyota ECU is rather an extra cost downer on most modifications.
