The 03 fl car I bought earlier in the year has done 5k faultless miles ( 95k overall).   It has had the precats removed some time in the past.  The service history shows for the last 50k miles of services its had forte engine flush used every service.  Do I carry on with a flush at oil change time and assume its kept the rings free or stop and just change the oil.   If I do use a flush which is best?   Its used NO oil in the last 5k miles I have had it.

I've always considered Forte flush excellent and only needed on an unknown or dirty engine.  It does depend on the frequency of oil changes, though.  I change at 3,000 but many seem fine to change at 5,000.  Regular oil changes are all that's required to keep the rings free.

A good quality fully synth 5w30 and a filter and you're sorted.

Never use a engine flush is my moto, they contain all sorts of nastys which you dont want in your engine and if all good and healthy its not needed, if you want to be sure all old oil is out you could do a double change, by this i mean change it once then run upto temp and then drop it and change again.

Many garages seem to of taken to using these flush products on every change which to me is just a money maker for them!

Edit to add, as Carolyn says on a dirty engine that blacks up new oil quickly then a engine flush can be considered, i would always follow with a double change to make sure all the flush is out though.

I flush my 70.000km old 2000 model at each oil change. Original untouched engine, apart from the precats removed. It does not use a single drop of oil. The exhaust smells clean. There is absolutely no bad noises in my engine. I like to believe it will live for a long time with its bad designed pistons and rings if I continue to service it  like this. But only time will tell. :)
