For sure nothing new, but I nevertheless though it might me new to sóme.

Because of the modifications/model year changes have an October flip date and not a calendar year date, less still the vehicle registration date, I checked the info the VIN of my car.

It cán a bit confusing because the USA and RoW codes do not match for all the digits.

Here are two links to what the digits mean:

https://parts.olathetoyota.com/blog/4585/how-to-decode-toyota-vin
and
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers_(VIN_codes)/Toyota/VIN_Codes
I may be a bit slow on the uptake but I needed bóth to get it.
Oh and position 6 is W30.

The US VIN number identification does nót recognise mine but https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Toyota does.

So, mine was made in Japan, European market, model year 08/2000 - 08/2002 and produced in 2002. It was imported / registered 09/2003 by Toyota España.

Have fun!

Dunno, am not paranoid. Well not about an old MR2  ;)

Maybe try from the last forward? As I wrote I found it a bit confusing but it did match and the VIN decoder produced the key details in line with my car incl. smt and colour code.

It is just a bit of fun  ;D

Made in ..... whére???

The sticker on the B-pillar, inside the door, gives additional info. The mónth of manufacture but also the ´Made in xxx´ blurp.

Now mine says Japan, as expected.
Surfing the web I found more examples. Some from the UK; Made in Japan. Some more from the US; Made in Japan. Hûh?? So does that mean that ÁLL ZZW30s were manufactured in Japan and for the US market sent over in ´kit´ form?

Petrus

The plot thickens.
According to US correspondent Dev; I noticed on MR2roc you were wondering if all MR-S cars were made in Japan and the answer is yes.  It was made in an older smaller factory for limited production .
