How much to sell my TF300 for?

After 7 years it's time to finally part with my MR2. I really don't want to sell but I recently got a new job. The new job involves a lot more driving and I really need boot space. I can't afford to run two cars. I will post it on the for sale section here to start as I really want it to go to someone who will look after it and keep it going.

It's black, 71k, 56 reg. MOT until jan 2021, FSH. It's in really good condition and I upgraded the radio.

I just want to get an idea of how much to sell for so I know roughly how much I have towards my new car.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure of value myself and although you are more likely to find a buyer who will look after your pride and joy within the forum a better price could well be found elsewhere.

Get a we buy any car valuation that will give you an absolute rock bottom price then browse auto trader and see what the dealers located down south want that will give you an idea of the maximum the car is worth.

Hi, I am interested in this. 👍

Pop some pictures on the forum for a more accurate price.
It's a great time to buy just a poor time to sell. If you can wait till end of March / April you should get a better price

Amen to that! Lol

In fact I am surprised he didn't already know that you were thinking of selling before you did! ;)

I'll give you £500 for it sight unseen.

Its been modded - radio
completely impractical - no boot space - only 2 seats
uneconomical gas guzzler - 1.8l in a world of 3 cyc 1l
Eco - planet destroyer for the reasons above.
High insurance risk - soft top
doubly uneconomical - high VED bracket
Colour - Worst colour going. Looks forever filthy the moment you put the micro fibre away.
Age - Nobody wants old cars these days.
Image - fill in your own
Tired - 14 years old, it WILL need a complete suspension refresh costing hundreds of pounds.

Take my offer save yourself all the hassle.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I can hang back until April as I am okay keeping it off the road if necessary for a few weeks.
I did have a browse on Auto Trader but there's not a great deal of consistency with valuations. We buy are just over £2000 mark.

I heard somewhere that convertibles are at their lowest price in january and highest in february!

If that is true, you wont have to wait long to advertise! It seems to make sense to me as people who want to get the most out of the car that year would want to get the purchase done by march.

The TFs attract a premium but you have to look at any ad you can find to benchmark and then just take a stab in the dark due to the variation you mentioned. As yours seems to be a good one then you would be looking at the top prices. There are always lots of nails out there for low prices.

If you are in the NE then you may not get a SE price though. You can always drop your price but cant put it up. If you have a price in mind that you want to get then no harm in trying for that.

In that case I'd try £4250 and expect to get knocked £500.
For best price I'd try ebay or auto trader what does @s12vea think?

I was thinking about the £4k mark too.

I'd be interested myself, but remember all the things I had to swap over from one to the other the last time, plus I'd just have an even more expensive ornament sitting in the garage!  :(

Looking at the auto trader app. Most expensive is £4995 which the app flags as over priced. Cheapest is 1395 which makes a mockery of the WBAC price as always.

Why don't you bring it to Ding Day?  It could go into the auction, that way it may or could stay within the Club!  Could be quite interesting?  You could always put a reserve on it! ;D

Well, the most I can remember an item going for at the Ding Day auction is £250 I think so that £501 offer may be the one to go for....

Very much still with me. Going to wait until April time to advertise. Although the sun will come out and I will end up keeping it. When it goes it will feel like losing a kidney

That's the spirit. Maybe sell the hardtop to some FB dwelling person that knows no better, so you can sort of tick the sold box. Win Win Win.
