Alloy wheels and brake hubs

I have just had my alloy wheels replaced under warranty and had them put four new tyres on at the same time. When I delivered the tyres to the garage I was amazed at the pile of alloy wheels that had been replaced under warranty. There were well over twenty wheels waiting to go back to Toyota. These were from not only MR2's but Celica's, Yaris's, RAV's etc. So it seems the problem is widespread with Toyota. They put it down to COSHH regulations and the switch from solvent to water based lacquers.

Also, they now only replace corroded brake hubs in the first six months of warranty, after that they will do a cosmetic fix.

Having said all that Brooklyn in Hereford are very helpful and the new alloys look great!!!  s:D :D s:D

The same problem also affects Lexus models, especially IS200's.  The wheels on my IS200 were replaced under warranty but are starting to corrode again now, and it's a year out of warranty.  I'm thinking of possibly having them refurbed in gold, but am unsure how good it would look...

Just had my replacement alloy date moved again to a months time as the local dealer just cannot get hold of MR2 alloys at the moment. Been on back order for three months now  s:? :? s:?

That's odd - I've just got a set of replacement rims under warranty.

I suspect though that canny dealers are actually just getting mobile wheel refurbishers in - to do a set would only cost £180 and they can charge that back to Toyota. New alloys I'd imagine are around 200-300 each ...

I don't think they are anymore as that's down the road and I wouldn't have to wait another month. They told me they have to use brand new ones from Japan and they are now using a different coating due to all the problems with different models rims blistering  s:? :? s:?
