Just twist counterclockwise. Depending on what you're replacing it with, may require some PTFE tape or similar to get it fully straight/aligned.

Depending on the replacement the gaiter might sit a bit low for the new fit.  You can fix this by getting under the gaiter and adding some cable ties to the gearstick shaft, keeping the gaiter top ring high.
