I took the roadster for a short run because the car has seen little use in recent months and noticed that after it had warmed up there was excessive smoke at idle.

The smoke all but disappeared when I returned home but I noticed that after parking the car in the garage that unusually it was smoking from the tailpipe after the engine turned off?

It is on fairly low miles but still has the pre-cats fitted and wondered if this could be related to them failing.

Hopefully not but any advice appreciated.

It could just have a lot of moisture build-up in the silencer.  It can take quite awhile to get it all out. You might try a longer run out? No guarantees, but...

Smoke or water vapour?

Peterj

It was more like smoke but there was no smell of oil or un-burnt fuel from it?

Ardent

what colour was the smoke?
White?
Black?
Blue?

A little while back @Carolyn provided this useful guide :

Black smoke, fuel.
Blue smoke, oil.
White smoke, coolant
Pink smoke, too many mushrooms.

Thanks all for the advice,
I've been out this morning, dipped the oil and checked the coolant - all good.

Started it up and all nice and clean, got up to temperature fine and all OK so will try and get out for a run when its dry - Lockdown allowing!
