:) my 2 pass the mot today. Then said there is advice notes.
1 front ( brake slight imbalance)
2 hand brake lever little reserve travel
3 underneath under sealed

Now hand brake done as it was in for a service at same time.

What can cause the brake imbalance is my question.

Some background to this within the last few months I have had all new or nearly new brakes.
Recon callipers
New braided lines
New yellow pads all round.
Nearly new disc. Claimed to have done under 1000 miles.

They say they put the under seal on to protect themselves as they can see.
Never hear of that before.
Any thoughts helpful people.  :)  :)

I know a lot of brake work has been done.
Starting at the easy end. Could it simply be, might need a little more bleeding?

How slight is slight?

@puma2
Well done on the pass Paul.
You mention " nearly new disc"
Is that just one disc?
If so that is likely the reason for imbalance.

PS
I may have read about under seal and MOT. The US could be covering a problem and so the tester reports " undersealed " , actually meaning unseen I guess, to avoid any come back.

It was both discs. The garage did stay something about protecting themselves by say it was under sealed.

not sure how slight it is but booked it back in Thursday just to see if more can be found out.

Would a shime( not sure of name on it) make a difference if it was not fitted to 1 side.

(Anti squeal shim) - Not sure if it would mean the piston has to come out a fraction further but assuming they're putting their foot down for the test, would that make any difference to force applied?

If it's the fronts they're simple enough, could it be something like a calliper guide bolt isn't moving freely? Could cause uneven pad wear

New discs are only £30 each. Why would you fit used discs?

they were offered to on shing ding day as they matched my front groves.

after a full strip  down and re-grease on road  test and back on the brake test all is well now.

will take it out soon and do some hard braking to see how it works then.

A post I referenced some time ago suggested, where appropriate do some aggressive braking, simply to exercise the calipers.

As a sweeping generalization, we like to keep the momentum flowing and brake as least as we can get away with. But, that does not help keep things that need moving, moving.

A couple of hard braking sessions I believe, keeps things working as they should.

Related but lightly OT, much the same as the handbook, apply the foot brake, before applying the handbrake.
It does make a difference.
