First problem in my trusty MR2 in a long time, 02 sensor borked apparently according to P0155.

I did some reading around, just looking for someone to confirm my understanding.

Is this one of the sensors in the manifold? One of the 2 sensors which I took out to check when I found out I had busted pre-cats?

Any recommendations welcome, is it worth replacing both at the same time or can I be cost effective and stick to one?

Would a ebay part be ok?

Bank2 sensor 1 failed heater is that code.

That's one of the sensors in the manifold, the one towards the nearside of the car (passenger side).

It won't affect the way the car runs but the engine light is an irritation and will cause an MOT fail.

Do get a Denso one.  You can buy one without the plug connector for a lot less than the absolutely correct one.  It will come with crimp connectors to allow you to use the old plug.  If you can't be bothered with the faff, then get one that is the correct one for the car.  The ones in the manifold have shorter leads than the one down near the cat.

By all means do just the one.  you never know how long the others will last.  Be careful not to drop or bang it.  They are quite fragile.

Cheap alternatives to Denso are best avoided they rarely last long.

Thanks Carolyn.

Some reading has presented me these two:

https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/denso-lambda-sensor-dox-0109
- £35
- Must replace connector with faffing

https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/denso-lambda-sensor-dox-0204
- £55
- No faffing I think

I'm tempted to order the £55 to avoid faffing, but I will have a quick look to see if I can find it cheaper anywhere else.

55 for the no-faff is a good price.  you might find the faff one for less.
