Quick question: I've got a new tube of this sealant https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vtech-Silicone-Instant-Gasket-Maker/dp/B00442KUDC/ref=asc_df_B00442KUDC/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310668964056&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14352537914787059081&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007192&hvtargid=pla-558304267348&psc=1. Will it be sufficient to re-gasket my sump with this or should I just buy some grey Elring Dirko as recommended by @Carolyn when I searched the forum?

I could do with putting new sump on sooner than later though so if the red stuff is alright then that's my preference.

RTV Silicon is the main aim of the game, your packet states high temp resistance but there is a grey version from the same brand on the Amazon carousel that specifically calls out oil resistance/oil pans.

For what it's worth I used https://www.henkel-adhesives.com/uk/en/product/gasketing-sealants/loctite_si_5990.html which again calls out oil resistance, and I think Halfords stores sell it.

Given a choice and enough time to buy some, I'd follow @Carolyn advice!
Today
2000 x reg pfl - blue - as original no mods
In the late 1980's
1982 x reg Toyota Corolla Liftback Coupe (also blue)
1978 s reg Mitsubishi Celeste Coupe (yellow)

Im sure there are many aftermarket sealants will do the job but I only use Toyota FIPG which can be bought at the dealer. Its so good that other mechanics of other brands use it over commonly available silicon sealants.
