2003 facelift SMT
41,600 miles. Sable. Many extras.

Owned vehicle since June 2012. Pride and joy. Garaged and SORN for most – only driven as fun car.
As many on here have said before – SMT's will become rarer as they die. SMT warning light coming on – drives like clutch is going. Intermittent - some days all good but can't be trusted. Can't sell as a runner but haven't spoken to a mechanic. No MOT – expired 11/04/22.

Vehicle located in East Sussex. More photos and details available.
Accept reasonable offer.

As a sale thread, should be a price attached.

As a non runner and no MOT taking into account transport costs etc, my reasonable offer is £400.

Cash on collection ok?

A price would help.

Hardtops with fitting kits are worth double that everyday of the week. In some cases £1500.

In full working order with a hardtop I'd say prolly around the £4K mark.

In terms of the car as a non runner, with no mot and a fault light on a system that not many people know about... I'd say £2 including the hardtop.

Depending on the diagnosis for the SMT, I am not sure if you could get a gearbox swap for a manual put in its place. Well technically it is the same manual gearbox, with a couple of fancy motors bolted on to do the gear change for you. 😂
Personally I'd say get the issue diagnosed and go from there. That's the kind of thinking your buyer will have to.
If you needed cash to do that, sell the hardtop separately. 👍

It's definitely been done before - https://www.spyderchat.com/threads/smt-to-manual-conversion-how-i-did-it.46221/

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Agreed, you're selling yourself short mate. Not that we like to see cars go to the scrappy but for the sake of an hour with a socket set, you'd easily clear

£1200 hard top
£200 style bar
£100 leather seats
£100 TTE banana spoiler

If that's a TTE exhaust there's another £200 (though obviously far more involved for removal)

Put it this way I'm 9 hours drive away, no space for a third car, and I'd still have it for £1k but I'd be robbing you blind

hoping SMT is fixable. its a good car. not advertising elsewhere so hoping someone in club will pick it up so it lives. agree its the cost of hardtop with a free mr2. not looking to make money out of this but do the right thing. keeping price at 1k. see if anyone wants it to try to fix if not as you say someone takes apart

I'll call dibs.  Sending pm.

The hydraulic pump for the SMT should take approx 30secs to finish after opening drivers door. If that's about right then it probably needs the SMT fluid topping up (reservoir under the air box).

Time the pump and add that to the advert. It'll give the new owner an idea of what's wrong with it.

Mine takes about 22 seconds.

After 41,000 miles, there can't be that much wrong with it.

A ht is the last thing I need.
Suppose I could put it at the end off the garden and make like high class hedhog house or something.

With my very limited knowledge I would say that is a BARGAIN !!
Say it with love, say it with flowers but never, never, say it in writing.
