Tyres

Hi

Got my car yesterday, its great, really pleased   s:D s:D   however.....

Feels a bit squirmy at the back occasionally, so, having investigated through the forums before hand, I checked the tyre pressures.

28 and 29 on the fronts

34 and 33 on the rears

I used a digital thingy which says it could be + or - 1 in-accurate.

This obviously isnt the 26/32 it should be, the car had been standing for an hour at least. Do you think these are realistic? if so I will obviously change them, sharpish.

If so I assume "squirmy" at the back is not too much right foot   s:wink: :wink: s:wink:  

Could be the tyres still have some release agent on, needs a couple of hundred miles (so I am told) to get rid of it.

Also, set your pressures to the book, and drop the front by 1psi. Worked for me.

It is brand new yes.

It could be too much right foot   s:D s:D  , but if so, it was less than I gave my celica   s:shock: :shock: s:shock:  

However I am hoping that it was too much right foot, too soon for the new tyres.

Just another tip, be careful you don't drive it like the Celica until you have sussed it all out.

The handling and break-away WILL be different, don't want any scratches on the new motor   s:cry: :cry: s:cry:

Yep, set the pressures as per the book. Drive it carefully for a coupla hundred miles and then slowly begin to push it. RWD/mid engine/light weight is VERY different to a Celica.

Think it was definately something on the tyres, much more sorted now. Dont worry I wont be driving it like a Celica, just that is my direct comparison, and in this case, the 2 didnt want to go round the corner as quick as that.

All is sorted, still taking it very easy, and going for a pootle down to the Cotswolds now.

P.S. Can you wash your windscreen with the roof down and not get dripped on??

At the lights its ok provided that you have set them up so they squirt on the screen, problem comes when the car in front of you does theirs at speed - deliberate I am sure!  s:roll: :roll: s:roll:

yeah, and above about 60mph then the excess fluid creeps up the side windows and then drops on your shoulder!!   s:x :x s:x
