I bought this car 10 years ago from an enthusiast who had back problems. History has repeated itself and after an L4/L5 lumber fusion I to am having problems.THe car has done 87k and looks good though a few minor scratches on the rear bumper.the car has been lowered 29mm front and 33mmrear and sits on Tein springs and Kayaba shocks.
The enthusiast also fitted new wheels with 16" rear. These are shod with 215/45/16 Bridgestone Potenza rear and 185/55/15 Bridgestone Ecopia front (they no longer make Potenzas in this size). These are virtually unworn.
Corkys Breastplate fitted and precats got rid of.
Up until a couple of months ago I had to do very little other than oil changes ( I don't do much mileage) . Tappets done 3 years ago so new chain tensioner as well. Then came the engine warning light.Rear sensor heating element. As it was going in for an MOT anyway this was no problem except that it failed on a rotting subframe. Apparently you are not allowed to weld pressed steel subframes so a new one and the sensor cost me almost £1000. Incidently,I have bills and history about an inch thick.
I love this car but entry, and particularly exit are becoming embarressing. So what should I ask for it? I think it is worth at least £2500 so that is where I will start. Any questions please feel free to post them here. Thank you.

Could be interested in this subject to all the usual etc etc.

As a plus, I am in Leicester.

You say Leicestershire, can you narrow that down a bit. Could view over the weekend.

My partners place of birth.
Not far away then.

What is your availability over the weekend?

Pierce

Any time Sunday, not too early. I put my phone number in the ad but it was taken out 'on security grounds so I don't know what to do about the address. Could the person who edited the ad give me some advice please.

Pierce

Idea. We could meet in the Bluebell pub car park, Desford. Say 11am before the pub opens.

Can you PM or post the reg number so I can start some due diligence on the mot history please.

Ardent

Dear @Pierce

I hope you find this before 11 tomorrow.
With no response to my request for reg number to check mot history. I will have to withdraw my interest.

With due diligence.
I find wrong size rear wheels for the car. Potenza tyres that will be well past their use by date. Gutted cats that do not help exhaust gas flow. A hard top that rarely comes off, so have concerns about condition of soft top. Lastly, asking dealer money for a private sale. We buy any car value equivalent at £880. I would be prepared to go a £1000 even knowing wheels and tyres need sorting and soft top is an unknown, plus any other unknowns.

Hopefully you find this before setting out. If you do, and if you are prepared to take on board the above observations re price, let me know here and I will still come over, otherwise I will have to step back and will not be attending.

I went to the Bluebell and have only just read this. A couple of points.Later MR2s have 16" rear wheels. What makes you think the hard top stays on permenantly? I can't be bothered with any more I find your tone rude and offensive and who is 'we' by the way?
PS Hardtops alone are fetching more than your offer.

Ardent

Apologies re hard/soft top.
I merely based that observation on your own post.

I have a hardtop which I now rarely take off. There is a rattle from somewhere in the folded down soft top which is driving me nuts. I thought of taking the whole soft top assembly out. Is my initial assessment that this is a major job correct?

Moving on.
I wish you well with the sale.
