Excessive play on front bonnet?

I noticed that if you push down on the front bonnet (when it is already properly closed   s:roll:  s:roll:   ), it makes metal-to-metal contact somewhere.
I can even imagine it would rattle over road bumps (there is about 3-4mm of vertical movement)...
Is this just my car, or is it normal?
Strange I have just noticed this today, after a year and a half of ownership...    s:? :? s:?

on the underside of the bonnet (near the front edge)there are 2 small 12ish mm accross rubber 'stops' these scew out a bit to stop the bonnet moving down  too far, if you screw these out a bit it will stop the contact you describe

I solved this rattle by fitting a small piece of soft plastic tube over the horseshoe  lug on the actual bonnet. The tube shold be slit along its lenght and secured with a little tape. Result silence!
