Has anyone else suffered from a broken volume knob where sometimes turning the knob down turns the volume up?! If so, what's the fix?

Never heard that one before... What stereo is it (the early Sony, or the post '03 Fisher Price one)?

Mine was the same - I think it's actually quite common with the Sony stereo.

You might be able to take it all apart and clean the optical sensor - although something odd that I noticed was that when you're setting the time with it, it worked perfectly.. it only ever played up when setting the volume. Most odd.

Personally I "fixed" it by changing the stereo  s:) :) s:)

That was my thought, but I've only had the car two weeks, so I wasn't going to get greedy!

I had that problem on my first '2. Had it changed under warranty, and that head unit is now in my second '2. I insisted Toyota swap them out!  s:lol:  s:lol:

Isn't there a reverse option on the button for the stereo, maybe someone has changed yours around, I am sure that I have seen it on the setup button when you press shift...will get dressed and go out and have a look!

I don't think that's it. The volume does go down some of the time, and always goes up when turned the other way!

The reverse option is for the remote stalk, and is used if you mount the unit on the right hand side of the steering column  s:) :) s:)

Had a check the reverse applies only to the Remote Module. You can change which way up and down for the volume, I unplugged it and tried it just on the volume button and it didn't make a difference...will go and sit down in the corner now like a good girl!

Has anyone found a fix for this as mine is the same. Sometimes the volume goes down as you turn the volume up, keep turning it up and it suddenly blasts you at full volume. Most strange.    s:roll:  s:roll:
