Our MR2 is suffering from random struggle to start. It starts off a booster and sometimes normally. The battery and alternator are new.

What is battery voltage with engine running?

Could be worn brushes in the starter motor.  Easy enough to replace.

Just to close off this thread we replaced starter motor today (with jspec used one) and it now starts like a dream. Spot on again Carolyn
