Tail light bulbs on 2006 FL

I can see in my notes that the tail light bulb is "Tail light 580 /W5/5w", but can I just buy any bulb and the plastic does the colouring or does it have to be red tinted bulb?

Any downside to using LED?

Actually I think my notes might be wrong!!

I've got home now, taken the bulb out and it look bigger... and now that I'm the PC can search properly and I've just seen this:

I thought I needed a 580 but not so sure now having read some of that thread, I will remove it tomorrow and see what it is, is the bulb tail and brake ?

Don't think so.  Pretty sure it's a combined stop/tail.  It'll be a 5/21W

I was definitely wrong - my first pick was Orange!!

You're partially right: it is the combined one brake light + tail light, but NOT that round bayonet-style adapter in your ebay link... I took it out the car, but the bulb just crumbled.... so all I really had to work with was the base and it is definitely the pinch style adapter from my link, just in the right colour...

I ordered the Amazon ones in my link... they arrive tomorrow and I'll check.

The single filament ones didn't even give me a tail light... dual filament as per that link above work perfectly (or Halfords for £3 each):
