New house sale is just going through and it comes with a detached workshop as below.

Roughly 40ftx20ft.

It needs a bit of tarting up on the outside, I'll paint the render white again and anthracite the roller shutter and have a new  personnel door fitted, then cover the front of the shutter in cedar or Shou Sugi Ban.

Now the interior, I want kind of half workshop, half man cave bar type thing with a big sofa, log burner, Bar and TV etc.

Thought it would be good to see everyone else man caves (or woman caves) or the types of styles people like. Let's see them or any ideas people want to do to theirs.

Log burner :P

2 and or 4 post lift.

So, so envious!!
Imagine the luxury of being able to work on your car with a 4 post lift!
I would section off an end to have as my Hi-Fi / Music room though.  8)
Small man syndrome? Not me, I'm 5' 5" AND A HALF!

Not at all jealous!

I have been looking for another place for a while and a good sized garage, or place to build one, is high on the wish list but is not easy to find.

A friend has a pool table and fridge in his double garage, think about how far the nearest toilet is though if you are going to be in there for long periods of time!

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

My "work shop" / garage / man cave is a " typical" side of the house, just big enough for a small car but it does have a pitched roof and I have made a mezzanine floor at each end with a ( removable) ladder access and store seasonal garden items and little used project tools up there.
I have strategically spaced wall shelving around the garage and assorted storage boxes and a work bench and engineers vice. My lighting is inadequate and should have been an early priority.
With your "barn" hopefully there is sufficient height available for a 2 or 4 post lift but if not then I would seriously consider a pit. This must be accessible, waterproof and illuminated and would not be inexpensive but very practical for any underside working.
Overhead and task lighting, power sockets. Ample power supply?
Water supply and drainage.
With reference to @Topdownman 's mention of toilet facilities, one of my brother's had a wall mounted urinal  in his garage, not unisex but, some facility is required to allow use of the coffee maker and bar facilities
Floor covering/ paint/ rubber matting / tiling.
(I only have the vinyl sheet that was in our kitchen and a section of carpet and use that as a crawler/ slider for underside work).
The log burner, a nice idea if wood supplies readily/ cheaply available for your socialising area and perhaps a space heater for the workshop area..
(I have a fan heater that is inadequate on cold days)
Sand/ medium blaster cabinet. Paint spray area.
Draught proofing around the roller door may be necessary but also consider ventilation necessary for the log burner/ space heater/ spray painting / exhaust fumes.
Consider ( cost saving ) thermal insulation.
IMO importantly storage, racking/ shelving/ cupboards to allow the working area to be kept looking tidy.
Juke box/ sound system/ video system if a sports fan, pool table fridge/ freezer, coffee maker.
Perhaps a ( moveable) thermal partition/ fire proof curtain to section off amenity and workshop.
All accesses, not forgetting the roof lights, secure and a security system.
Any further assistance required in spending your £££ please let me know.

I'd forgot to mention log burner!

I'm thinking old brown chesterfield Sofa to act the divide between work shop and chill space.

Big chunky coffee table, wall mounted TV, bit of a bar area, like the pool table idea.

1st up will be new flooring, undecided on painted or tiles, also going to knock a door through the rear and build a deck area for BBQ and beers, as that's just wasted land at the minute with just weeds and brambles growing.

Good shout of some form of toilet facilities!

:) just one question when can i move into the man cave :))  :))

Gaz2405

So we're finally in and have been for about 6-8 weeks now.

I've gone with some extra roller cabs and units from SGS, with some standard racking for the time being and storage boxes on rollers.

Managed to get some OSB on the walls today, still got loads of other crap to move out of the workshop as it's currently a dumping ground.

Anyway some pics of how it's currently looking.

On the look out for a two poster next.

Surely you mean 4 poster? Oh hang, you're not talking about a bed!

No insulation? You may regret that come winter!

Its coming on well, enjoy.

With regards to insulation I'm on the look out for some insulated panels to go into of the existing sheets.

Theresa couple of leaks to sort but should get them with the new panels.

Just need to be careful of wind loadings as we get quite a bit up here.
