Looking to sell my '04 plate, face-lifted mk3 MR2. I love this little car, but unfortunately it very rarely gets driven these days and I can't afford to keep taxing and insuring it for the sake of one or two drives a year. Also, I have been telling my partner I would sell it for about three years, and if I don't do it now she may kill me.

Part service history
58,000 miles

Looking for £3500, but will consider reasonable offers

The car is in good mechanical condition, having undergone £1100 worth of work in 2023 to replace the coil springs, brake discs and pads (the cost of the brake parts not being included in that figure). Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me find the receipts to prove that work was done. This, coupled with some paint issues (detailed below) is why I'm asking what I think is a fairly low price for the car.

The original interior leather and soft-top are in excellent condition (the latter having barely ever been used), and the car is sporting a set of very new Toyo Proxes TR1's, which have done less than twenty miles.

The paintwork is a little tired, however – there are a number of small scratches and a couple of quite noticable ones on the front bumper and onside front wheel arch, which I've included in the pictures (see link to photo album). The dealer I bought it from also had the bonnet painted to cover some chipping, but seems to have used a different type of paint from the original. I think this may have reacted with the paint underneath, as there are a couple crusty spots which I have also tried to show in the pictures. There is also some chipping on the front edge of the bonnet and a very small dent above the offside rear wheel arch which I did my best to photograph.

When I bought it in 2018, I serviced it myself (including new spark plugs and gearbox oil) and continued to do so for the following three years, when it was being used more frequently. Since then it has only received a service at the garage in 2023, since it has barely been driven.

Please do view the larger album of high res images of the car.

Really hoping someone here will give it a home, it deserves to be driven and enjoyed.

That's too cheap.  Especially as the hard top is worth £1250.

Miles are very low, you could get that price for it without the hardtop

Gaz mr-s

Not as easy selling a hardtop as you might think.  Plus, wrong time of year & smaller market in Scotland.

Call the midlife!

Not to spam the thread but I traveled over 200 miles to buy my last one, I don't see the location being a problem. I agree you're probably undervaluing the whole package though.
GLWS either way 👍🏻
60% of the time it works everytime...

Appreciate the comments folks. I guess the price is a bit low, but it really needs to get sold and I remember when I was looking for this one that there were a few in the area that had been advertised for AGES without selling. That coupled with the threat of actual bodily harm at the hands of my better half should I not get rid of it soon have convinced me to take the hit. Besides, I paid £4K for it in 2018, so if I sell it for £3.5K, pretend inflation doesn't exist and ignore the running costs, then it means it's only cost me about 70 quid a year to own. That's a bargain, even if it is delusional!
