Double Zero

Had the MR2 a couple of months now.

Given it a good clean and some love but mostly hooning it around, I've never owned a car I enjoy driving so much.

Updated the LED bulbs in the dash as SMT bulb was on its way out, an easy job if it were not for getting the polarity of the bulbs correct

I'm happy with the improvement.

The precast have already been removed, however, I was given a gravity exhaust manifold with the car so I think it's on my job list of things to do.

I want to wrap the manifold. Is a better quality of exhaust wrap or is it all much of a muchness?

Is it worth doing the lower section of the exhaust around the cat or in this country does it make no sense because of water on the road? I'm likely to be taking the car off the road in November to start doing all the work and upgrades.

While the exhaust is being changed, is it worth changing the sensors to be belt and braces at the same time?

I need to change the belts to will change the water pump as it's probably on the original.

Are there any better water pumps or it is prudent to stick with OEM.

I'm also on the look out to upgrade the bracing and ARB's if any one has any to sell please let me know as I'm having to work on a budget to keep the one who must be obeyed happy 😁

Welcome
Nice to see a Facelift SMT, the SmT is great fun to drive and the blip on downshift is an addictive!

If you have the manifold worth changing, it will change the tone of the exhaust and removing the precats is a bonus but not essential if the car has been maintained

Another one won't hurt  .....

I've found heavy duty titanium brown wrap to last the best.  10 metres is sufficient.  If you have the orginal cat, it has heat shields, so wrapping is not of any real benefit.  Aftermarket cats do benefit from wrapping.

Sensors are not cheap so it's worth seeing if they survive being removed and replaced.  Sometimes the do, and sometimes they don't.  Avoid aftermaket substitutes and use Denso.  Everyone in this club that has tried to use cheapos has regretted it!

Again, it's best to use an OEM head to manifold gasket and OEM crush rings, cheap substitutes are bobbins.  TCB Performance Parts has them.
Perry Byrnes Memorial Award 2016, 2018.  Love this club.

The downshift is fantastic fun and makes a lovely sound

Car has been looked after I want to do right by the car as I'm keeping this one.
