Having trouble selecting gears from a standstill from neutral, changing gear whilst driving is not a problem.

Changed gearbox oil and clutch fluid, slight improvement.

Purchased clutch master cylinder from ebay ( AI advised it would fit, ebay confirmed fitment ) ( A.B.S 71018), autodoc states will fit too, it doesnt.

Mr2 Ben  has one for £250 ( the picture looks wrong although it does state its for illustration purposes)

I've since purchased a used one from ebay , my mechanic friend didn't advise this at first but this is where i am at.

Would prefer next time my mechanic friend attempts it he has a new correct fitting part, but i'm baulking at £250 ( mr2 ben) and labour charge.

AI says i can use  Aisin CMT-141 for £43 from amazon but i'm reluctant to trust that is correct as on further investigation it is for LHD vehicles.

Car is coming up to 200k miles as is my daily ( for 10+ years ) and this is the first problem that has been tricky to resolve.

I have purchased a rebuild kit in the past from Ebay and did the job myself. The part number is 3141017110, but I don't think you'll find a cheap alternative.

Have you tried lubing the external linkage on the gearbox?  Any good spray lubricant will do the job.

It may or may not help, but lubing the linkage does make for much nicer gear changes.

I make that part of the annual service.
