This is where the carpet joins behind the radio. Has anyone experienced the 2 sides not meeting? I'm guessing they're supposed to overlap but I can barely get them to touch.

On all my 3, it never joined up properly - I didn't bother too much about it.

Having been in this very position recently  my experience is the same I can about get them to touch but to over lap velcro. No chance.

Certainly not single handed.

Good do with 1 person pushing and holding in position whilst other side tries the push and press down.

I thought about peeling back, create a couple of holes in the carpet and zip tie.

But like chilli suggested, I gave up and let it be.

I managed to get it to join but it's barely half the width of that velcro. I reckon after a while it'll come apart again.

As you say @Ardent it's a bit of a 2 man job.

One idea is to maybe have a separate bit of double sided velcro wide enough to bridge the gap.

That's one of the reasons I re-created the side panels.

I was thinking to punch some holes through and use a cable tie but haven't tried it yet.

In principle yes.
Would need to have very good stick, if sticking to carpet. And still a 2 handed job to make a good attempt at it.

Stick the 2 bits of velcro back to back, sticky to sticky. So you end up with 1 piece that's hook one side and loop the other. Then put one side on top the left hand part of carpet and under the right side. The 2 sides of carpet only then have to meet and not overlap. But they should stay in place.
