Looks like my Mr T Battery and my Optima is dead. Both been sitting out of car for long periods of time not doing anything.

What amps does the alternator push as I have been told that too big a battery connected to a weedy alternator does not work and it will never charge it properly?

Right or Wrong?

Feel free to use a bigger battery, as long as you mount it properly. It just takes longer to charge, if it gets empty, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work.
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Well, took both batteries to Halfords last night and the chap put them on the tester.

The Toyota battery battery passed the CCA test at 200 only. I don't know what the crank figure is for the Toyota battery.

The yellow top passed the test at 690 CCA so everything appears to be ok.

Just found the specs on the battery it should have been able to do 330 CCA or 420.

Definately dead!
