Cheapest way to hook ipod to stock sony stereo

HI Anyone know the cheapest way to hook this up got the 2000 sony stereo and ipod nano.

Not really keen on the fm way of connection

I use the griffin itrip and have no probs with it at all. i think its probably the neatest and easiest way of doing things.

What puts you off of doing it via FM transmission?

I too wasn't overly impressed with the FM transmitter, sound quality wasn't too great i thought.

personally i think the sound quality is as good as CD.

a few questions though -

1) was it a griffin model or a generic ebay one which you had?
2) Did you try changing the modulating frequency?

the fm one can get a dodgey signal and i have an ipod nano so the griffin wont fit

There's a an iPod adapter that plugs straight to a Sony stereo called something like "Connect 2".  I saw it in a parts catalogue, will post more details tonight.

Not sure what you mean by "the cheapest way" but this was around £50.

Incidentally, FM transmitters are illegal in the UK anyway.

I have a griffin iTrip and I don't find it to be convenient.  Also the sound quality is lousy to my ears.

I use a simple Sony Cassette adapter.  Costs about 20 euro.  Sounds a lot better than the iTrip and no messing around with frequencies.

It's called "Connects2" and allows the iPoo to be connected to the CD changer socket of the headunit.  The aforementioned link points to the iPod ---> Sony version but I have seen adverts for other makes as well.
