this is a light tapping noise coming from top left of engine, around the pulley belt area.
the noise does not appear when cold, then comes in from 90% to 100% working temperature, ive been told it wasnt pinking, i personally dont think it is that.

was running on full synt castrol RS 0w 40, but told to use semi synt, so its now running on mobil S semi-synt 10w 40. filter also changed too (still sounds the same  s:cry:  s:cry:  )
ive been offered up another opinion, the hydraulic tensioner for the timing chain, might be worn/loose/need retensioning or that the oil when heated is not providing enough tension properties, all help appreciated, many thanks.

I think it sounds like a tensioner issue, mine has always rattled since ive had the car, now a year later its no worse so i wouldnt worry about it (unless its loud, which mine isnt)

thanks mate, least im not alone with this problem, though i was going mad  s:lol:  s:lol: , its not too loud at all, but annoying!!  s:oops:  s:oops:

is there any way that the tensioner can be adjusted manually, or is changing this tensioner an easy job to do?
