Just joined here...you guys are the most dedicated and friendly forum I've ever seen!  Need some help.  Bought a 2000 about a month and a half ago. Test drove it twice, ran beautifully.  Had a slight separation in the convertible top (drivers side, near door)...long story short:  After bringing it back to the local Carmax(purchased there)3-4 times and top still not replaced, plus started to run "rough" getting it back the 2nd? time; (had LOTS of standing water in car after a good rain overnight), Carmax has agreed to return car and put me in another.  I have found a 2001 with 28000 miles, good price.  I can purchase a 3year/36000 warranty as well, extensive coverage.

I've now read for hours and hours of the dreaded pre-cat issue.  Being in the US, I suppose I'm getting a US spec'ed car as opposed to what you guys are driving??  Getting ready to pull the trigger on this 2001; any advice would be helpful.  Obviously check for pre-cat failing....anything else?

oh yeah, gutting the pre-cats here in the US will pretty much fail me for emissions, right?

Thanks Mark for the quick response, and I just found the "US" forum, "Spyderchat"?  I'm going to pick it up tomorrow; let you know how it goes....

I think he would only fail in Cali if they check the precats visually...but better ask in Spyderchat from locals  s8) 8) s8)
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

If they test it while the car is still hot the pre-cats won't make a difference.
