Some pond life had a go at my car today.  Tried the old lever the door open trick (that I said couldn't be done here - this at least proves the less well evolved end of society is willing to try their luck).

They didn't get in, but they have chipped the passenger door glass and damaged the rubber seal on the hood (as well as bent some metalwork on the hood frame - but that's very minor and can be coaxed back I think).

Now I need new glass and rubber seal so the car in soft-top mode is weatherproof again, does anyone have the part numbers for these?

I'm guessing the number for the glass will give Autoglass, or whoever Norwich Union use, a fighting chance of bringing the right part and the rubber seal I can order from Mr T at next Friday's service and get it fitted after the winter when I take the hard top off again.

Thanks.

Taken from a 00-02 US parts list: usual provisos apply. Personally I'd phone MrT who can spec for your own car.

Window glass R 68101-17110, L 68102-17109
Front weatherstrip (Looks like on top) R 62381-17060, L 62382-17060
Rear  weatherstrip ((goes down the back edge) R62383-17010, L 62384-17010

TBH so many bits of weatherstrip around the hood, these might not be the right ones.

Roger, thanks for the reply - apologies that I haven't got round to posting my own reply more quickly than this.

I'm posting some pictures so that the damage done can be seen - which will make the required bits self explanatory.

This one shows the total of the damage - window, rubber seal and trim part.  You can click on the picture for a bigger version (which takes you to the flickr site)

If you look carefully behind the glass in the above picture, it's possible to see the hole on the inside of the rubber seal - clearly, something was poked all the way through in an attempt to get into the car.

This next one shows the damage done to the 'rail' inside/under the rubber trim:

The next one shows the 'good' rail on the drivers side as a comparison.

The part numbers & quoted prices for these bits are as follows:
Weather strip RO T62384-17010 £50.08
Moulding Roof DR T75554-17020 £28.57

Fitting the damaged parts is apparently about £60 - so an hour's work?  Or less?  (Not sure what the labour rates are in Worcs.)

I don't have a part number for the window glass as my Autoglass invoice is mostly illegible.  Worth noting for the obsessives - Autoglass don't appear to fit Toyota Glass: the security marks are not the same, and the security stickers aren't there either.

One other thing that came to light in the conversation about my little problem was that, from my initial description, the service manager was a bit worried that I would need a new roof.  He knew that this would be a game, as his preference, based on his experience, is to fit a roof & frame complete, rather than the fabric only.  He told me that the fabric is heated and machine stretched into place, so is "not easy" to do outside of the factory.  This concurs with Adam's (Jap GT300's) view that going the whole hog with a new fabric and frame is the only way to do this, and other's experience of badly fitting roof fabric once a replacement has been put on.
