Has anyone managed to get the fisher price and the ipod/itrip to work properly?

I tuned it in to a totally blank station and still got static in the back ground and after ten mins of driving I had to try and retune the bloody thing because the static   s:evil:  s:evil:

I thought that once it had tuned the itrip to a station, that was it.....at least thats what the manual suggests

I had a similar thing to the Itrip when I had the CTR and it wasn't that good - worked great in a Punto, okay in a Mini but was quite poor in the CTR.

I've actually today just bought one of these -

 m http://www.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Deliver ... _44128.htm m

which is on offer for £20 at the moment (though seen simliar on ebay for 14 quid but couldnt be arsed waiting lol).  Anyway, fitted it this afternoon and it works really well - no interference at all (though i don't use the ariel, it is disconnected so that may help).  And thats using a 3.5mm headphone socket to twin RCA cable.  Just orded an Ipod socket to RCA cable which should give a louder signal - at the moment you have to turn the stereo up more than for a CD (as the ipod headphone out signal is quick weak) to get decent sound and that brings a bit of hiss during the quiet tracks - should be cured with the proper lead.

Bloody bargain IMO and can be used with any headunit so good for future use too.  Plus it avoids wireless problems or break through etc since it is an inline unit.

Thanks for the nod on that Pro, i was actually looking at that the other week....before i bought the itrip.
The reviews of the itrip sounded great.....maybe they only drove to the end of the road!!!

I'm waiting for a reply from soundlinx regarding a very similar fm modulator.

the problem is, if you live somewhere where there are a lot of fm stations, you will need to find a frequency where there are few stations broadcasting to minimise interference  between them. If you live in a major city then the itrip is therefore pretty much useless for you.

If you live somewhere like I do where you can only pick up about 6 FM stations in total, the Itrip works quite well.

I think this is probably the reason why some people say the itrip is great and others think it sucks.

I also had a CTR with the iTrip, i did read that certain cars have shielding which prevents the signal from getting outside to the aerial.  Although i would have thought the iTrip would have no problem getting through the soft top!.

Anyway in the end i gave up with the iTrip and bought a standard headphone to stereo phono jack and just hooked it up to my stereo that way.  The quality was about ten times better than the signal from the iTrip.

I would deffinatly recommend hard wiring an ipod up to a stereo, the quality / volume is much better.
