Black diamond brake discs: £114.62 for the fronts, £124.39 for the rears.

Black Diamond Predator brake pads: £33.25 for the fronts, £32.25 for the rears.

ie a total of £ 304.51for a full black diamond brake setup, cheaper than the group buy IIRC and by far the best price I've found anywhere so far

Website is  w www.needforspeed.co.uk w  and they are conveniently located in Helensburgh (no i'm not affiliated and haven't used them before, just thought I'd share a good deal!)

Could anybody who has bought these comment on the following:

1) If they noticed an improvement over stock?

2) If they are as good as (or better than) stock when cold?

3) If they have resisted corrosion better than stock (i noticed from the GB thread that some people had noticed a little corrosion already?)

Cheers,

The group buy had 4 grooved/drilled discs for £305 with VAT. This site has them for £312.28+VAT, which is roughly £367 with VAT.

I haven't installed mine yet, the car is still sleeping over winter. But judging from experience in other cars...

1&2) I doubt you'll see a performance increase over the stock, warm or cold. The stocks are more than enough to activate the ABS even with slicks and anything better doesn't make a real life difference. You'll see an appearance increase though.

3) Like Ernie said, "That rust comes and goes with the moisture.", it's not permanent like with stock discs. I doubt you'll never get rid of that moisture-rust with metal brakes. You'll probably need ceramic ones for that..
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Thanks very much for the answers Tem, I think I will just replace with stock brakes then and save myself some cash.

I never noticed that it didn't include VAT, nor that I had quoted the cross drilled discs as opposed to grooved/drilled   s:oops:  s:oops:

oh well, back in my box.

I'm not so sure about that anymore.  Having had them on the car for several months now, the hubs look just about as rusted as my old ones did. s:( :( s:(   In addition, there is rust in the drilled holes.

They don't look bad.  They just don't look any better than the old ones, but for the slots and holes.

Got pics?

Oh and just wondering...did you try to wipe it off?

There's no way that it will wipe off.  Maybe a wire brush but it'll just come back.  Here's a pic, taken today:

Was just wondering if it was rusty brake dust. That does happen.  s;) ;) s;)

Can't really see anything but black on that pic  s:? :? s:?  I'm on a sucky old monitor right now.
