I think you need one more to balance them off and then some kinda funky digital display under them all and it would look the muts nuts!   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

For those of you who dont reside in the picturesque county of Essex, this is a compliment  s:D :D s:D

Nice guages by the way Martin. Just a thought though, did you use an electronic transducer for the oil pressure, or a capilliary tube direct to the guage? If its the latter, check it's properly bled, as if theres air in it that may explain the frightneingly long time it took to get up to pressure when you started your engine.

yes your welcome to the use of my garage Martin   s:lol:  s:lol:

looking good though I'm surprised you went for blackface dials? I'd have been tempted to match them to the main uits.

Looks rather nice indeed Martin.. Now you just need a third guage to complete the set  s;) ;) s;)

Got me wondering what some SPA guages would look like in the MR2 too.. Hmm.. but I really should fit them to the car they were meant for  s:) :) s:)

Anyway - just wondering, what's the black box to the right of the new guages (some kind of electronic display, buttons underneath..)?

Cheers,
Aaron

'Tis the latter, they're much more accurate - hence why the temperature is yet to be fitted - it's off at the manufacturers having a suitable sized capillary tube fitted.

I am suspicious that there may be some air still in the tube but when the final gauge goes in we can bleed it then.

Uh, sorry Mark! Thanks Mark!! Yep black face dials. The problem is that off-the-shelf dials are either black, white or cream faced. The '2 has silver faced dials so is near on impossible to match. Further, not all dials have back lights to them - these do - which limits the choice further.

Is that black box with a LCD display on it top secret then Martin? Coz you didn't say what it's for...  s;) ;) s;)

(Tell me to poke off if it is secret btw!  s:) :) s:) )

Ahh.. and there was me expecting it to be something really exciting!  s:) :) s:)  I was hoping for something like a diagnostic display (similar to the ConZult software & laptop solution for the Nissan 300ZX).

Ah well.. Guages do look nice anyway  s:) :) s:)

Thanks,
Aaron

'Tis no such thing! It's an original Origin Blue-i - a GPS-based accident blackspot warning system.   s:wink:  s:wink:    s:) :) s:)

It may seem an odd place to put it, but with a combination of leg-length, driving position and no clutch to worry about, my leg never comes in contact with it. As such, I think it's much neater there than stuck on top the dash. Also, with it so low, it's not such a worry in summer leaving there with the top down.

For some reason, the pictures aren't downloading for me. Any ideas why?

Yep, it's likely that something's broken at Martin's hosting end.  It doesn't work for me either this morning, and did last night.

Edit: And now it works perfectly.  A little blip I guess.

Don't do anything but these days. It took *a lot* (yes *really*) of practise to get my left as balanced and sensitive as the right is, but it's worth it.

...until you drive a manual round the track for the first time and get all into a dither about that stupid clutch pedal - sorry Mark!

So what did you use to mount it there?  Is it just the standard fitting kit that comes in the box with the Blue-i?

very nice martin!

no ash tray or lighter though, so i guess the smokers will just have to go without!

I've never found enough free space to try left foot breaking, so i guess it will have to wait until the next track day...

standard mounting kit + a couple of small bolts. Obviously had to drill the holes, but they won't be noticable if the kit is removed. Was an absolute pain trying to reach round & up 'inside' to do them up as I recall!
