Got my MR2 today - Sable/Black leather - so no longer feel a fraud visiting this forum. Not the greatest day in terms of weather for collecting a new car, but what the h*ll! Picked it up in Northampton, and drove gingerly back up the M1 to Leicestershire, worrying about wheels corroding, glovebox rattling, headlights misting and so on...D*mn these forums  s:wink:  s:wink:  Anyway, got home in one piece and the '2s now been put to bed in the garage for the night. Hoping the weather's better at the weekend so that I can begin to do some serious running-in. And looking forward to a Midlands meet soon. Thanks for the help and advice over the last few weeks - looking forward to meeting some of you soon.

As Kris says, don't worry about 'em, besides most of them are just the most minor of niggles.

When you start pushing your new motor (don't forget to break the engine in), and go zinging around corners, you'll forget all about the problems.

Thanks guys - I won't even worry about niggles until they happen. And that's what the warranty's for anyway. Looking forward to getting the first 500 miles on the clock...  s:wink:  s:wink:

The trick to running in is to vary your speed in the rev range, the worst thing you could do would be to sit on a motorway for extended periods at 3k rpm - keep it moving.

Welcome to the club   s:D :D s:D

Don't worry about the posts you see on problems - the car is fantastic as you are no doubt aware. Come the summer it gets better   s8) 8) s8)

I have had my fair share of warranty work but wouldn't consider anything else and you have a great community here if you have any questions.

Did I mention now that you own it, members of the opposite sex immeadiately find you more attractive   s:wink:  s:wink:

Thanks again for the welcome - this is a very friendly forum. Just the right mix of information, humour and irony  s:lol:  s:lol:

Yes, I understand that owning an MR2 will make me immediately more attractive to the opposite sex, in fact there's a page about that in the Owner's Manual. Personally, I'm more concerned about appearing attractive to members of the same sex...

(Just kidding. Honest.  s:wink:  s:wink:  )

I was driving around an airfield at 500 miles...  Didn't go over 5k rpm though...  Not intentionally anyway...  Even when donutting...  I think I shut up now, one day I may want to sell it.   s:wink:  s:wink:

Enjoy your new car - soon all new MR2's will be Sable!

Just to continue the running-in tedium, it's very important, in addition to what others have said, to avoid labouring the engine, especially when running in.

Cheers
Andy
