I have just got this new headunit and installed it. Now there is a problem..........its not fully filling the area to the sides. You can see about an inch of the metal of the side of the cd player.

Here are 2 pics to show you;
This one with the plastic cover...

And without the plastic cover...

Can anyone suggest what i can do to solve this issue? The top and bottom seem to fit ok and look neat, its the sides which look crap.

Thanks allot people  s:) :) s:)

I think you need a fascia kit.

Where can i buy one and will it fit a double din unit ? Is it simply a bezel that goes around the headunit ?

Thanks

make sure the Top (your New DVD unit) in Line with the Bottom Ashtray and cup holder? If the DVD unit is setting proud then you will need to adjust the brackets holding the DVD Unit in such a way that the unit sets in line with the bottom.

Don't bite my head off but you haven't got the brackets on wrong way round have you, so they point the other way?

Hi,

That occured to me to......the Head Unit should fit in the brackets ....with minimum issues.

Search, as always, is your bestest mate, but its better if you know the answer anyway...

You need a plastic fascia unit. Try these threads, which contain all the info you need;

It's hard to tell by looking at the pictures but... is there alternative holes on the headunit you can bolt it to the bracket with? it looks like it could do with going back about a centimeter... I know that you might think it should go further than that but I had a similar problem with mine and a facia adapter was suggested for me too, I had another look and removed the plastic surround that came with the headunit and fitted the original surround from the car, at first I thought it wasn't going to fit but I persevered and got it to clip in and it looked like stock... the surround I'm talking about (ie the facia adapter) is the same as the one that goes around the ashtray.

So see if you can mount the unit onto the bracket... or mount the bracket... a little further back and clip on the surround... hope it works out for you.

The factory headunit has a deeper bezel just like the bezel on the cup holder thing underneath it. Also the mounting holes on the factory headunit are set forward a little more which makes the headunit sit further back. So there are actually 2 differences, one being the size of the bezel and the other being the mounting holes for the bracket.

I am going to have another look now.

That's definitely standing too proud, and I don't think a fascia unit will be the complete answer. Once you get the front back level with the undertray cup-holder thingy you might stand a better chance. I'm guessing the bracket came with the radio - so it might need a bit of modification.  Best of luck, any way.

Me thinks you need to turn the brakets around. The bolt to from the radio to the brackets should be behind/inline with the vertical support not infront of the vertical support as in you pic. try taking the unit out and rotate the brackets 180 deg, means unbolting them from the head unit. This will move the head unit back by 30 mm and near to flush with the vertical supports. let me know how it goes

Help needed please  s:) :) s:)

I currently have a single din head unit mounted into a facia panel, that in turn, screws onto the uprights below the dash. (like this)...

I'm about to fit a double din Pioneer and I have ordered a facia kit that is due in the post today (fp-11-08)

My question is, do I need to have the factory Toyota mounting brackets as per the image at the top of this thread??? I dont know if the facia kit on order also comes with the 'right angled' bracket to attach to the uprights under the dash.

If I need the brackets I can order today from Toyota for delivery tomorrow. But without having seen the double din facia panel yet, I cant be sure if I need to get that order in.

If you get a preface unit mounting brackets and front bit of plastic your head unit will bolt into and look all nice and stock.

Did the chap at the top put the brackets the wrong way around?

Yes you need the original mounting brackets, you bolt them together, if it's the same as i got the facia surrounds are all you get.
