hi there, im thinking bout doing a sound system in the luggage compartments behind the seats, and was just wondering what people thought of the design i have chosen, thoughts and comments are always welcome, just dont be too harsh   s:lol:  s:lol:

Anyway here it is, a rough design on paint as i dont have any other programs to do it on   s:lol:  s:lol:

That design and knowing the space there subs will be 6 - 8" max and only say 4" on the speakers but it alot you want for a small space. Also speakers need a certain amount of air inside the box.

its been done with 10" subs

but tbh 2 subs is overkill in the roadster

You would be better buying one good quality sub than two cheapies. My ideal system would be one 10" sub behind seat in customer build with amp hidden. Nice quality speakers in sound proofed doors all being ran from 4 channel amp. Simples  s;) ;) s;)

lol every idea i have it always gets shot down ha ha , and going by the ratings they werent crappy subs, i just thought it would look better if it were symetrical, instead of all over the place.

Also my question about does it really matter about how much air to the speakers would get, cause i didnt think it did :-S

cheers once again!!!

Each sub will have recommended enclosure size. If you make your enclosure the perfect size and use an amp with the correct power rating for the sub you can't go far wrong. In reference to your two subs for £44 should flag up quality issues as you should be looking to spend more than that for one sub.

well the subs are normally £40 each but on sale at moment lol, i've been reading a couple more posts about installs and i think it would probably eaisier and look better to just have a flush piece of MDF with a sub behind either seat (JBL Probably) and hide the amp behind them or below the bins, looks better, probably WAY cheaper too! so once again my mind has changed  s:lol:  s:lol:

Oh and another quick question, does the standard stereo have pre-outs already? or is an aftermarket one needed to replace it?

For the price (under £100 easily) you could could yourself a descent headunit such as Alpine etc and the single din facia adaptor, better quality and better looking than the standard "fisher price" unit.

Having made a twin 8" boxed enclosure i  can honestly say that it would without a doubt be easier to make a single sheet of MDF and cover it... would make access to the amp easier and probably allow a small ammount of storage space. I didnt go down this route as i  wanted to have the units enclosed rather than open.

However I will be reviewing my setup in the new year and changing it so if you want to buy it and save yourself some work your more than welcome!  s;) ;) s;)

I dont believe that the standard HU has preouts, good excuse to get yourself a double din touch screen  s;) ;) s;)

I used to install car audio systems for uplands multimedia centre that used to be in exeter and my suggestion would be 1 8 inch or 10 for slight overkill tbh...
I have a jl audio 8w3v3 that im putting in mine and that thing will be more than loud enough!
It wasnt cheap at 130 quid odd but you really do get what you pay for in the audio world

Are the holes on the inner walls speakers? im just wonderign if you could jiggle it around for a better fit. A friend of mine had issues with space in his car and he purchased a sub where the magnet was situated very small and most the sub was situated forards rather than behind it if i remeber correctly. Was good bass from it and a real space saver! ill see if i can find out what and where it was from unless someone can help me out

Pioneer do a slimline sub where the magnet is on the front they might be called shallow mount subs...
Alpine are a regular design but the type r versions operate in very small boxes! And drop lower than your grans nipples for such a small speaker in a small box
