hi all,

anyone know what the tubes behind the 2 small side grills on the back of the car are for, they appear to have a fitting for something and it doesn't look like theyre for the tow hook

any ideas?  s:? :? s:?

They are the tow hooks. There should be a hook in your toolkit that screws into them. Theres also one on the front of the car.

I'm only guessing here, but I don't think that's the reason. It would be just as easy...well, actually easier...to anchor it down through the wheels. And that's how cars usually come over here anyway (never seen a MR2 on ship though).

My guess is that some countries require two hooks at the back and it's easiest and cheapest to Toyota to have them in all models.

And my 2nd guess is that since law only demands two hooks (one on both ends), but doesn't define which side they should be on...you wouldn't want to tow a car whose front hook is on the left if your rear hook is on the right. Having two hooks in the ass gets rid of this problem.

Both are only guesses though...

You are of course aware that the Roadster is not rated for towing so the theory is kinda flawed I'm affraid  s:( :( s:(

I know...but at least over here you can use it to tow a car with a rope, even if it's rated for 0kg  s;) ;) s;)
