I've been trying to mount my neons for some time now, without finding any decent spots to put em. So i decided to take some pics, and try getting some other peoples views.

The front neon, would this work out. Would that thing hold?

The left neon (watching from the front). mounted behind (towards the outside of the car)the left holder (like pictured in the next pic

The right neon, cant find a decent spot, just like the left one.

The back neon, dont know where to start...........

and some pics of the car for those who want it.

Hopefully someone can come up with a decent solution to mount these lights, and some graphics to explain would do help alot.[/img]

Rigth goos pics to start with lets start with the side ones, on the this pic:

 m http://www.hlink.no/~sausy/neon/pic2.jpg m

where the lip is on the bottom of tehcar is where the neon wants to be mounted! you wont drill into the fuel tank as you have noted on other pictures wherer it is. If you dont want to drill clean the bottom of the car with water and saop then so meths and then get some silicon and stick the neons to the bottom, this will make it so that when you come to remove them you have soft rubber to cut and not ripping the bottom of the car off!

You dont want to moun the neon like in this picture:

 m http://www.hlink.no/~sausy/neon/pic1.jpg m

You want to tuck the neon up under the car not on show! So under the fron there is a plastic trim just glue it to this or bolt it what ever easier.

on this pic:

 m http://www.hlink.no/~sausy/neon/pic4.jpg m

Dont forget the neons dont have to be simetrical on both sides as it transmitts a Glow whcih will radiate around so a couple of inches out wont be seen. so you just have to mount it up to the rear sway bar (bvlack bar in pic) as you can not forgetting under the lip!

As for the rear:

 m http://www.hlink.no/~sausy/neon/pic5.jpg m

The nappy can be either trimmed or cut to accomidate the neon i.e. cut and fold the plastic so that it creates a hole to mount the neon again slicion or bolt but make sure it's under the sill level.

Hope this helps maybe if you put on the pics where you are going to mount them and i will tell you if it wors or not   s:lol:  s:lol:

any question just ask   s:wink:  s:wink:

I've actually got a set on mine (don't laugh, for promotional use only!)
which i forgot about, i shall take some photos for you a.s.a.p
(i'll wait till my drive is dry)

Mind you, my car's fairly low so photos might not come out too well, but we'll wait and see  s:D :D s:D

Try and get it done for you tomorrow

Nobody laugh, but I've thought about Neons, as long as they are fixed tastefully and you cant see the tubes I think they look great!

Gettin the GB TTE Springs soon so would be really interested to see some photo's of the neons fitted and working.

If I understand you correctly Buster, you want me to mount the neons on the lowest spot under the car, and since the neons are a couple of cm in diameter across, this will make my already lowered car, even lower.

About attaching the neons I was thinking of drilling and using sillicon to make it more stuck to the hull. Is it possible to do so without drilling, and if thats the case, what kind of glue do i use?

Can you stop posting huge images into the board - i have had to change every post in here so far as the images are just way too big. Please leave them as links as they are above.

Thanks

I have 3 sets under mine with no probs to date apart from some heat effects on one of the tubes at the rear due to the side ways placement of our exhaust box.  a basic heat shield would sort this however.

cant really coment on fixing points as mine is kitted, but I've always found the supplied brackets fine with no extra fittings/silicone

Other side of the arrow saus, towards middle of the car. this will mount it before the sill and make it invisable to the eye!

As for drilling into the chassis it is possible but make sure you not drilling into anything important just use your brain no drilling into fuel tanks and cables etc! and then either make a bracket from pipe straps or use silion but what ever you do make sure the surface is clean with meths etc and then once drilled (if needed) touch up the hole with some touch up paint so that corrosion dosent start

That was the first place i was thinking of when i started mounting the neons. But I'm not quite sure they will show very good then? Since the lights will be under the middle of the car. And since my car is already lowered, you will have to crawl under the car to notice em, is this the mounting point other spyder car-owners have used?

Been searching the entire web for someone with mounting pics, and I'm gonna put mine on web once its completed. I've done all the wireing, but this is nagging me.

Had no idea a admin had to edit the links manually, sry for posting big pictures.

The neons whould be powerfull enogth to shine around the car and you will definalty be able to see it with out a dout!!!

But if there is problems which i cnat see there being Silver Insularion tape is what i sue to make the neons seem brighter. Just a couple of stips behind the neon to project all lost ligth back down on the road

Couldn't get any decent photos of where they were attached but these photos should give a general idea!!

Plus i've now realised that my kit covers the tubes which means that if the kit wasn't on there, you would be able to c them.

This is of the rear in engine bay

This is the Front

Hope this is some help?!?!?!?!?!  s:D :D s:D    s:D :D s:D

Hmm those pictures illustrate how i want em. Do you know how those "black clips" around the neons are attached to the car? Cant be drilled i guess since the "lip" they are hiding behind is quite thin.

I think we are getting close to a solution now heh  s:lol:  s:lol:

I would imagine as DJ Lite has a kit on teh overlap of teh kit will make an ideal drilling point for nuts and bolts or even a short self tapper.

the black clips are normally supplied with the kit

I also have the clips the came with the neons, but still i'm in the dark where i can attach em to make them sit so that they last the first day  s8) 8) s8)

In that case I would have to make some kind of frame to attach the neon lights.

SAVE YOURSELVES!! Neons? Why would you want to put neon lights on quality motors? Leave it to the Mcdonalds car park kids and retain your pride. Feel free to prove me wrong on this one but when I see a car with neons I cringe. Keep it stylish!

Each to their own bud... I still maintain it looks pretty good when done right.

Saus, you dont have to make a frame for them to sit on as with them hanging just under the chassis will be fine, Unless you got over huge speed bumps and with the car lowered i would imagine that it wouldnt harm them!

All teh fram would consist off would be 2mm S/steal plate cut so that the neon fits under the car more in teh nocks and cranies! but as you where worried about not seeing the glow then i would just put them were i shave stated make the installation much easier, But dont forget the silver tape makes all the difference, and to those of you who have neons and want to make them brighter then do the silver tape and notice the difference   s:wink:  s:wink:

day time meets arnt really practical me old mate   s:wink:  s:wink:

I have two sets of high power blue and one of high power green (high power read - not max power cheapies)  so they glow blue with a green haze in the middle

The chrome toyota logo at the front lights up blue when the noens are on as well.

also have a 'Greddy Power'  EL logo as well but havnt found anywhere suitable to locate it as yet

its all a matter of personnal taste on these sort of things, but I personaly think they look great if the tube isnt visible at all   s:) :) s:)
