As some of you know I went along to Dong Day on Saturday, it was my first mr2 meet so good to put some faces to names.

To be honest it was the first time since all the bad luck etc I've had that I actually enjoyed driving the car, had a good drive there, enjoyed taking Josh and mannos out for a blast and a great drive home....pleased that the 350z was struggling to keep up too  s:D :D s:D

Nope not thrashing it. Been very careful with it as requested by Patrick, in fact I've done more than asked.

If it can't hold up to going into lift now and again then it's not been built correctly, right?

I am glad you you haven't and its working how new parts should  be  its when people abuse cars they will fail ,  Sandra engine is 4,000 miles now and  that had quite a lot of lift in Europe lol .

It seems fine Patrick no leaking or anything untoward. It's got over 1000 mile on it plus however many you did.

Had a mechanic take the car out last week and confirms the diff is the culprit, he thinks it hasn't been shimmed correctly. We will be removing the gearbox and having it stripped down once the car is off the road next month.

Was looking at the gearbox that is for sale on the forum but it's just a bit too pricey for me at the moment.

Ordered some upgraded engine mounts last week, hope to have them soon. (Front and rear mounts)

I hope my box will be a cheap fix because it's actually the same, Mr2 LSD, Celica 1-5 and Mr2 6th.

it depends if any damage has been done I suppose. I know very little about gearboxes so it's hard for me to judge.

Obviously a straight replacement would be easier but it's terrible timing for me financially.

I fitted my speed source front and rear engine mounts today, nice and easy job.

Wow they are pretty solid, I haven't driven the car but when you fire it up the engine has a reassuring thud as it feels well connected to the chassis now. Probably not for an every day car but nice for a tracker  s:) :) s:)

Nice to know I should be looking for engine mounts as well, cheers Mark!

Hope you get your diff and gearbox sorted.
I can't recall a day when I drove my MR2 and it didn't put a smile on my face

I would have thought your gearbox is like that because the bearings were on their last legs when the swop was done. Even if the preload was slightly out it wouldn't have got noisy so fast. Was it your box or a random secondhand one?

Gearbox is coming off the car this weekend and will be taken to a very reputable gearbox builder next week.

I've ordered a black one for mine, when I called Toyota they advised me of a 7 day delay as no stock in the UK so Toyota are getting me one from Belgium.

The badge finishes off the front nicely!
Another one won't hurt  .....

When I bought the car about 5 years ago I had the whole drivers side (due to a heavy scratch) bonnet, front bumper  and passenger side wing  ( due to chips and lacquer lifting) painted  s;) ;) s;)  so I'm cheating a bit
