Hello everyone,

as title says, what is the best place to buy ready to swap 2ZZ low mileage engine in a great condition? Please, think europewide.

There is an ebay guy that sells engine gearbox etc specifically for mr2 2zz swap.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

^^^ Best way by far, that way you can check it for faults before putting it in.

Plus, you've got a better chance of verifying the mileage. Anyone just selling you an engine is bound to say it's low mileage if that's what you are asking them for.
Ex.MR2 SMT sadly missed.
Saab 9-5 Turbo, Hirsch stage 1, Sports suspension and anti roll bars, uprated disks, sports intake and filter and various other bits. 210bhp, 320Nm.

To cover all of the requirement parts, the only donor car in question would be basically Celica 190 M/T am I right? But still, they are quite expensive comparing to the separated parts and to get rid of the rest of the car might not be so easy.

+1 for buying a donor car. You get to test it properly and you get all the bits you need.

Don't discount a corolla either, they are cheaper than the celica and the only bits you need are the celica ecu and intake manifold. I paid £1000 for my donor corolla, it had 2 owners and a complete service history. I got to test drive it properly, check that the lift worked etc. It was that nice I actually felt guilty pulling it apart..

In terms of getting rid of the shell, do not worry about that, I put it on Ebay and was inundated with buy it now offers etc. eventually I let it go early for £350, I could probably have got more.

When you take into account £120 for the ecu and £15 for the intake, the complete engine/trans with all ancillaries cost me £785, which isn't much more than a palletised engine with an unknown history.

I would be glad to fit into let´s say £1 500 price tag.  TiM3 did you also get a transponder with the ECU?  Things are getting complicated because, I would like to also use a better gearing (installing C60 2.-5.th gear into C66 gearbox).

Yes, you need a transponder with the ecu, you can programme further keys very easily after that.

If you've got the space and time a donor car is the way forward. You don't need a Celica inlet manifold, the Corolla one fits fine. If you buy the right donor car you can get the engine for free. The first Corolla I bought, I paid £1200 for it and broke it for £1600 plus a free engine and gearbox. Maybe that was lucky, it took time and it was hassle to break it.

Yep, agree with you. But I don´t have a time a space to store another car at home. As you have already said, it´s not easy to break it completely. I believe in my situation is better do get just the necessary parts, but from a decent source.
Would be great to have somebody in UK for incidental check of engine, box and other needed pieces.
