Hi guys, got a bit of an issue I hope someone can help with. I completed the MAF mod with yellow injectors yesterday, I've seen lots of info regarding the o rings on the injectors so was mindful of that. The yellow injectors came with new o rings at the fuel rail end but a couple of them virtually dropped into the rail, the greens were all a proper pig to get out. However at the other end there was nothing resembling a seal on the yellow injectors, no problem I think, i'll take the seals off the greens I'm removing. Except the greens I've taken out didn't have o rings at the engine end either they do however have a little black plastic cap on that end that t yellows don't, an they don't appear to be interchangeable. I built the car back up with the yellows, they felt "nice" seating, tight, not rattling around or anything. Started it up, started straight away, no leaks and the much reported instant grin, it is a different car. Parked it up last night chuffed to bits with a job well done. Gone out this morning, started it up, got a huge lung full of fuel as I reversed off the drive, then noticed the HUGE puddle of petrol on the drive, pulled back onto the drive and noticed the fuel trail and huge puddle in the road where I'd stopped. Wouldn't be nearly as baffled if I hadn't done twenty miles last night without issue. What have I done wrong? What's happened? HELP!!!

At a guess i would say one of the injectors have not sealed properly.  Do all of the yellows have good O rings?  Did you use a but of washing up liquid to help them in?

Maybe an O ring perished when you pushed it in?

On a side note, did you remove the vanes from the intake?

Fettled it, why it sealed last night I don't know but stripped it again today and the O ring on number 3 came out of the fuel rail in pieces.   New O ring and jobs a goodun. No vanes to remove, I'm running an injen induction kit.

glad you got it sorted bud.  Maybe it was ok when first squeezed, but the pressure forced it to fall allow fuel out.  You should always use washing up liquid to get the o ring in, so to avoid it being savaged.

Did you need to use a spacer? and if so what did you use?

Yes used a spacer, I bought a proper kit, came with a proper machined spacer with two O rings, screws, the lot.   Can't believe the difference it has made to the car.

Second hand off ebay mate so unfortunately I have no idea on its origins. I'll check to see if I still have the sellers details and ask him for you.

The kit is available on Spyderchat.

Patrick, when we met up at the borders run you said you were going for this mod, did you do it? Think I'm going for it too so wondered if it was fairly straight forward?

I am indeed. I'm just waiting for Nic to head up North so I can fetch the injectors off him  s:) :) s:)  Then it'll go straight in and I'll be sure to post

I'm really interested it getting this onto my car! Is there any guide on how to fit the fuel injectors in? I'm an absolute mechanical novice.

I've had a relatively thorough look around here and spyderchat but I just can't find a good guide for the fitting or information on which fuel injectors to get, any advice?

I like photographs so there will be plenty! I changed the injectors on my 200sx, looks easy on the 2 in comparison.  Just have to make sure the flash isn't on when taking pics  s:o :o s:o

Dead easy job, less than an hour for anybody with some level of competence with a spanner. Second time round after the o ring split in mine took about 25 minutes.

Hi All,
wanted to resurrect this thread as I'm hoping to install it at some point - I've got my riser & 2 screws (thanks Patrick!) along with 4X 2zz injectors (thanks again Patrick! - just need to send them for cleaning) - however I noticed in the original thread:
 m http://www.spyderchat.com/forums/showth ... -Riser-Mod m

it shows a couple of what look like black O rings that seem to go with the spacer - does anyone know the exact measurements or substance they are made of and where a good place would be to get some? (Plumbers merchant??) - I've not yet taken apart the MAF to figure this out...
Also the thread above makes mention that the second O ring should be used "if needed".. how do you know it it's needed?! Does it rattle around or something??

Sorry for the concerns.. it took me forever to get through the general thread that resulted in the creation of the MAF mod and it all seemed VERY specific on dimensions/heights and I wasn't aware that I needed to work this bit out...

Cheers,

John

Was there not an o-ring in the little bag? Im sure there was one in there and I never opened the bag.

Also, take apart the maf?  s:) :) s:)  Wouldn't do that!

Oh... I'll check again! Totally happy if there is one!  s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:   It shall be the first thing I do when I get home you can be assured of that!

lol... when I said take apart the MAF... you know what I mean!

Haven't settled on an injector cleaning place yet... the problem is that you read their blurb and they make it sound like you'd be a fool not get the injectors cleaned...

I was looking for a pic I took of it and can't find one  s:( :( s:(  It may be possible that I tinkered and put it around the riser itself. It was a thin o-ring.

If its not in there I'll see if I can dig out some info.

Don't forget the new injector seals! Otherwise you'll have fuel everywhere  s:) :) s:)

cheers for that! I do appreciate it a lot... will let you know what I find in the bag as soon as I get a chance...

I'm looking at using these guys here:
 m http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/product.php/p ... ?k=:::8332 m

they say that they will replace the O-rings.. is that what you mean by the injector seals?

I figure if I can get them replaced and cleaned at the same time it'll be a good deal?

Haven't got a clue to be honest dude.
I've never had injectors cleaned. If you want, you can even diy it as well apparently haha. Have a look at jaworjawor's thread. A tube, 12v battery, measuring jug and a spare fuel pump  s:) :) s:)

LOL - I think I'm a LONG way off of jawajawors capabilities!!!
Essentially we're looking at £60 to have them cleaned and all the bits that can be replaced done... hopefully it'll be worth it! Added to which I'll get a couple of pretty graphs to look at..

Oh that's not bad at all! Yeah I'd definitely do it for that. And as I said, if any are knackered, we'll talk refunds.
