What do I need to fit Toyosport manifold?

Call the midlife!

If the Toyosport mani has heat shield brackets and you're not going to be fitting the lower shields get the brackets cut off before you wrap it.
And bear in mind for any future fettling in that area (chain tensioner etc) that the fibres linger around and get all over everything. So if you need to revisit it to tighten anything as I did with a dodgy, non OEM crush ring then consider wetting it down again first and take the same precautions. It takes days to for the fibres to clear your skin.

Toyosport doesn't have heat shield brackets - Mine is Hamish which does. They're not lined up quite right, I wish I had removed them

I have refitted the heatshield, but attached the top and bottom ones to each other, not using the brackets on the manifold

Oh, and the fibres really do linger for days - itchy like a really itchy thing

You can fit the lower ones if you trim them as I did before ditching them and wishing I'd test fitted it all first before wrapping. Otherwise I'd have cut them off before wrapping as it's a royal pain in the rear! (Also soon to be replaced Hamish).

I wish I hadn't bothered with the heatshields. The amount of fettling to get the sensors to line up, and the heatshields attached just wasn't worth it. That and the wrap was trickier as I had to go round the brackets

Still, a sense of achievement once done, and looks stock if only a quick glance. I've sprayed the heatshield black now too - looks ok but I managed to 'duff it up' a bit when refitting

Brilliant write up, thanks Justin, really appreciate this. So 10M was more than enough?

don't believe the hype about the "no soaking", any cut ends will still release the fibres and if you get them in your pores it's a bat-turd...

Yup, no brackets - not too fussed about losing heat sheild from a cosmetic perspective, take it there's no issue from a performance or any other perspective judging by number of exposed (wrapped) headers I've seen on members cars...

Noted, in case I change my mind and try refitting

If you're having it fitted at a yard you possibly won't see it but just be prepared for the amount of smoke that comes off the wrap the first time it heats up, it looks like it's leaking but it's not. Well probably not..

Eek! Already had enough worry when nappy started smoking last year...
For info, I ended up buying this stuff..https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IVQRV7Y/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now I've got the bolt sizes from this good thread, I need to go and look up gasket part No's from workshop manual

So, to answer the original premise of the thread, and from what I've found from some research, you'd need at last some of the following :

  • Toyosport Manifold  ;D
  • Gasket - Exhaust Manifold to Head (same part for FL & PFL)
  • Gasket (x2) - Exhaust Manifold to Cat (same part for FL & PFL)
  • Bolt/Stud (x5) - Exhaust Manifold to Head -  (different part for FL & PFL)
  • Nut (x5) - Exhaust Manifold to Head (same part for FL & PFL)
  • Bolt/Stud (x3)  - Exhaust Manifold to Cat -  (same part for FL & PFL)
  • Nut (x3) - Exhaust Manifold to Head (same part for FL & PFL)
  • Exhaust Manifold Wrap (2" x 10' or 50mm x 3000mm)
  • (x10) Stainless Steel Zip Ties 30mm
  • (x10) Plastic Zip ties 30mm
  • Bucket of Water (Not the one you wash your car with)
  • Gloves
  • Patience
If you're refitting the Heat Shield

  • Bolt w/washer (x2) - Upper Heat Shield Section Upper bolt
  • Bolt w/washer (x?) - Upper Heat Shield Section Lower bolt
  • Bolt w/washer (x?) - Lower Heat Shield Section bolt

10m was enough. I didn't have a lot left over, but will be enough. Be careful with the loose end as it will unravel and be useless

Check No. 3 - I believe the toyosport has a different gasket to stock/Hamish. Anyone with a toyosport confirm this ( @Carolyn @The Other Stu ). Stock has 2 x crush gaskets, I think toyosport has a single traditional style gasket
Check No. 7 - Did you mean Manifold to Cat?

You won't refit the heatshield to a toyosport - my comments were for the Hamish

Good point CTM. It took mine about 100 miles before it finally stopped smoking. Only completed it just before Ding Day, was smoking all the way to Wrexham!!!

Good shout, saw that on one of the vids i watched. I'll try duct tape over the loose end.
