Not that I need one yet but when the dreaded oval Bore happens where is the best place to go to get a 2ZZ conversion done and what sort of cost would I be looking at?

I have a 2000 MR2 Roadster 5 Speed box

I am in the South near Portsmouth

I'm assuming Patrick/Headcase is your closest person...

Best to send him a message to see what his latest costs are etc...

How long is a piece of string?
Patrick is indeed closest by far.

If you're willing to just stick any ol' block and gearbox in then you could be done for about 2k including labour.
If you want a good maintained block, proofed for anothwr 100k...closer to 4k.
I got to about 4.5k for the build I wanted.
...neutiquam erro.

Bonsai garage (Andy, it's a one man band) did my conversion, in Weston super mare.

I supplied a corolla T-Sport and an MR2 on a flatbed, and £2k. He did the rest, which included:

Swapping lsd into corolla 'box, modifying the 'box shifter shaft to work properly.
Mwr dipstick, mwr intake, my header (I supplied those, he fitted)
Replacing radiator, handbrake cables, scored intake cam on the engine, engine mounts.
And a bunch of other work.

The swap took a month, 2 weeks of which was faffing with a dodgy celica ecu that I supplied for the swap.

I got a turn key swap which has worked flawlessly for 18 months now. Very happy with his price and work.

+1, I highly recommend Patrick/Headcasehe did my swap very quickly. You need to book him up though he's very popular.

I did mine through Sam tsport spares(ebay) (sam nadeem Facebook group) and rogue fitted it. Cost me £3K but I did have a few extras. Not far from you if you want to have a look/ride at some point.
New little car to follow soon

Ex 2zz by Rogue. Se7en cams. BMC CDA. Competion clutches lightened flywheel, Megillian Racing Exhaust. TRD sportivo suspension and ARB\'s. TRD braces. TRD quick shift. TRD dash kit, Matts brace. Getting there but not sure when it will stop!

My genuine advise is to sell yours and buy the sp240 turbo that is for sale currently, it's better value... IMO 2zz makes best sense as a DIY job, although Joe's price sounds very good.

I concurr. My car currently owes me at least what Scotty's is up for. And it's slower,  less powerful, worse looking and has more miles.

That car is the perfect package and it would be a crime to break it and remove the turbo.

If you're thinking '£3k on a 2zz' then Scotty's car makes perfect sense. By the time you've bought coilovers and AD08R's you'll be there anyway.

Unless you prefer the driving feel of a 2ZZ over a turbo, not to mention less potential reliability issues.
But I suppose the first point is subjective (and one that I share).

Yes, absolutely, and I enjoy that you can really drive a 2zz hard, and it's fun and engaging, and yet you're not doing silly speeds. I just prefer the balance and response of a revvy NA engine. I've had big turbo cars and I find the 14 day wait for w clear conscience after a spirited drive very nerve wracking.

But if you buy/build a 2zz in a quest for big numbers and bragging rights, it's a path to an empty wallet and disappointment IMO.

As mikek states I too was very happy (still am) with sams link with rogue. I was about £3.5k including new chain set seeing it was in bits, rogue straight through (no cat) pipe, lotus oil pump gear set and prob other bits I can't remember. As others say prob anything from £2k upwards plus any other mods / upgrades you want to add in. The work quality at rogue is second to none as with support and advice

As with anything people have good and bad experiences.
I know people who have had poor service from rogue as well as good.
You can only say it how you see it.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

A lot depends on the base 2ZZ how well it's been looked after and what prep work is carried out to it
Retro fitting any different engine into a 2 is going to creat "issues" and quality of outcome is also budget dependant
