Hi all,

I have been informed by the tyre fitter today that I have the incorrect set of locking wheel nuts for my car, they are the conical sort whereas the stock ones are the flat sort with a washer, can someone confirm the thread I need - might as well just run with no locking wheel nuts for the time being, looking at the state of my alloys anyone is welcome to them lol   s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

Guessing the thread is M12x1.5 with the size being 21mm? Does it matter for front and rear or are they different for pre/post facelift?

I bought some like this for my facelift;

No difference between front and rear.

The tapered ones are what you will need for your aftermarket wheels if you get them so dont throw them away!

It is considered dangerous to use the wrong nut style as there is more risk of coming undone if they dont make full contact between them.

When I swop my wheels I swop all the wheelnuts too.

Ooops, just double checked and those arent the MR2 ones in the link above but hopefully you can find some that do!

I'm fairly sure I've still got mine somewhere if you want a set.

The roof is down on my MR2,

I will see what I have in the garage, its not good to have the wrong sort though as the tapered ones are only holding the wheel on with 1mm of contact surface, apparently if they are fully torqued down the stud can then stretch, the then snap when you undo them so will get them changed as soon as possible.
