Hi all,

Not sure if anyone else has this issue as I know the Dastek isn't the most common ECU to be running, I have now installed it on my car after ordering a set of security 5 point Torx bits, plugged it in and I now have the idle hunting up and down from around 1,500 to almost stall at around 400, it settles down it seems after the long term fuel trims are set to around -26% on all banks. As far as I know its set so that it remembers the previous fuel trims after I take out the key but I get the gauge sweep once I turn the car on ever time meaning I think its resetting the ECU every time.

Initial feel is that its got better midrange pull, not too much difference between map A (lower octane) and map B (higher octane), have it set on the more aggressive map B at the moment, will see if the ECU keeps getting reset every time the key is removed.

Really depends what it was mapped for/on.

Its premapped by Dastek for intake and exhaust mods which is what I already have on the car, it seems to be running really rich but has settled now, its running at -24.2% on the long term fuel trims and -20.3% on the short term fuel trims - tempted to uninstall it and see what the stock ECU needs to idle properly. It does the same on both maps as the only difference in the maps would be to advance the timing slightly more aggressively with the 'high octane' map as its ok to push it slightly more without knocking.

I hate to say it but there is NO WAY that Dastek supplied a pre-mapped unit to match the exact mods you have on your car  s;) ;) s;)

Get it mapped before you bore-wash the engine (yes in the past there was more than one person who found this out the hard way!)

Depends on the map really. The stock parameters really don't allow for much tuning to be honest. But having said that, the dastek has been known to be more aggressive in its tune.

If it's doing that to your trims,it's no good. Too little air. I'm guessing your air mods aren't quite the same

Thanks guys, will pull the Dastek from the car until further notice, I figured it wasn't getting enough air meaning it was running rich, will run the car on the stock ECU and 'as delivered' weight for the baseline drag run, will then be doing some weight reduction and a better intake setup which the Dastek might be happier with after that.
