Hi all,

Just wondering about this, I am looking to remove all heat shield in the engine bay, will probably keep the cat/manifold to cat heat shield as I believe its welded onto the pipework but am looking to remove other heat shields such as the ones on the sub frame and in the rear bumper.

Just wondering if anyone has done this at all and if they have if they have had issues with anything melting? I know that they are there to keep hot air from the exhaust away from the air box and intake but will probably route mine behind the battery and its an enclosed cone with an inbuilt heatshield.

Just wondering if its ok to simply remove them?

Most of mine are gone and no issues apparent. Custom exhaust for 2zz, and CAI to left air intake behind battery.

Took all mine out with no issue, as above induction behind battery out the way

Thanks guys, so even the large heat shield inside the rear bumper can be removed without the bumper melting with a stock sized exhaust?

Partly my thinking plus partly weight reduction coupled with the fact that some won't be any use anymore due to the relocation of the air intake although I believe the main one that vibrates is the welded on one on the front of the pipe that goes from the manifold to the cat.

Are we talking the ones on the exhaust or the plates bolted on various engine / subframe ?

Or both ?

The plates bolted in the engine and sub frame although there isn't a heat shield on the top manifold as it's an aftermarket decat manifold.
