Question time

The nut and the front plate came off without any fight whatsover, but I'm struggling to get the bolts out
Do they need knocking through or undoing?

Unfortunately, they often seize in place.  There's a massive pile of sub-frames with arms that wouldn't budge, at Rutland MR2.  Best you can do is soak for a couple of days, give the head a bit of heat, put the nut on and clout it.
We experimented, with a special frame and a 10 ton ram, on one we got from Dean.  Didn't succeed.
If you got nowhere, there is one decent sub-frame with arms at Dean's.

Heat, spray water on, re heat do this several times, thermal shock, helps break the rust up, and if you have a good impact gun that helps.
RACING, because football, cricket, rugby and golf only need ONE BALL

The subframe is rusted anyway so it's being replaced

Not such a big problem as I have a set of Che arms to go on.  Was hoping to re-use the bolts as they weren't cheap to replace, but looking at the state of them I'll speak to TCB parts and get new ones

Dinitroled the inside yesterday
Painted the outside today with a good coat of hammerite

Couldn't get mine out either. In the end I tapped them out with a hammer......Bolt and bush happily made their way out through the back of the rotton subframe!!!!

Bolts are very expensive!

I KNOW!
I bought all new bolts for the rest of the subframe from Paul @ TCB
I baulked at the thought of paying 12quid inc VAT EACH for some bolts at the time, now I think I'll just take the hit on the wallet and have an easy life

For Now I have injected some "Secret Sauce"* into the bolt hole and will give them a workout with the hammer tomorrow night

Sadly I don't think they will come out of my subframe as it's not rusty anywhere near them

I ended up shearing one of mine and had to replace it. Those channels just suck in water and rust the bolt in place.

Ordering some replacements, reckon it will be quicker

Also tore the captive nut out of one of the ARB brackets so the bolt just spins in the chassis rail.
Going to cut it off open up the hole fit a rivnut.... I'm at work at the moment, does anyone know the bolt size of the ARB mounting Bolts think it's M8

I just had a peek at the car on the lift.  It's got a 14 mm head, so it's probably a 10 mm, but it could be 8.... Tried a socket on it, but very tight and I didn't want to repeat your experience.
That was a big help, wasn't it??
