Can anyone recommend a company to remap my turbo?

Can anyone recommend a good company to check/remap an SP240 in the Surrey area?

Mine is running very rich and won't go through the MOT emmissions anymore. I would like to get the mapping checked before going down the route of changing the cat etc.

The mapping was originally done by Redline in Essex. I believe they are still around. However, a company neare me would be much more convenient to get it sorted ASAP.

Any recomendations?

Thanks

Redline really would be the smartest option to be honest. Not only do they know the car/setup but the Dastek is a unique skill set for tuners. Very few pros in the country.

Thanks. That makes sense. I don't want the mapping mucked up by someone who thinks they know what they are doing!
It's just a pain getting the car to them from where I am. Looks like it will also mean a day off work.

What ECU are you running? If its a PFC then perhaps check that the O2 feedback is on so it can adjust the fuel trims etc? Have you checked that things like the MAF are clean to ensure that its all running as efficiently as possible?

The SP240 (and the TTE turbo kit it was based on) use the Dastek Unichip

I feel your pain. Helen's could do with a remap as well. Best option for us is Redline (day off and stay overnight) and a place near Aberdeen, same story.

Milway in Andover used to be rather good with the Dastek, but it's been 15 years since I last had a car mapped there and I know they went through a bad patch for a while.

Is it worth swapping over ECUs to find a more user friendly and common aftermarket ECU like the E-manage or PFC for additional functions and a wider number of tuners?

Go to Redline it's not far from Surrey and they know about 1zz turbo and Unichip.

Is it definitely over fueling not oil getting passed turbo seals?
Are you thrashing it before it goes for MOT?
Mine always passed after giving it some welly

Emanage ultimate is an option. I'd definitely opt for that over Dastek, but that's me. Also, you'd need an electronic boost controller to replace the one on the Dastek stack.

PFC is good but as said a lot; outdated. Better off going for Link Storm or the likes.
Or... Just go to Redline if the map is the problem  s:) :) s:)

Cheapest way surely would be to pop to redline, he would of coded the map to stop other changing aswell I guess.

How many miles have you covered with the turbo kit now?

I thought the em ultimate can do boost control

Hi all
Thanks for the comments. I managed to get booked in at Redline for Thursday morning to get them to check the mapping and see if they can see any obvious issues. The car has done 45k now, 35k on the turbo conversion so there could be some wear and tear.

The MOT guy (I've used the same place for the last 5/6 years) tried for ages to get the car through the emmissions. In previous years they have always managed it but not this year.

Hopefully Redline can sort it out.

Nice to hear the turbo setup is doing well. Possibly the map possibly the sports cat getting tired.

Yes I wondered if the cat had given up. Does anyone know what model I need to replace mine and where I could source one in the event I have to bite the bullet and get one. I see there are a lot of cheapies on ebay but I wonder if these would be any good/road legal.

Looking at my fail certificate it is the CO2 emmisions which have gone from something like 0.167 last year to 0.939!  I also note that the stated maximum allowed has gone down from .3 last year to .2.  Have they moved the goal posts this year?

The cat alone is not responsible for passing emissions.
My cat is damn near empty, as confirmed by our trust Steve@D1, and I flew through emissions this year.
Should be no different on a turbo.

Helen's 200cell SP240 cat was replaced for 180 quid (old one cut out and new one welded in) due to the original one being blocked.

Looking at how bad my CO2 reading is I think there may be something other than the cat that is causing the problem. Hopefully the mapping check wil iron it out or Redline may spot something else causing the problem.

£180 to replace the cat sounds like a good price. so it won't be too expensive to replace mine if I need to..

Could the emissions be as simple as the primary sensor?

That was all that was wrong with mine a couple of months back. Cheap sh!t sensor, no codes, replaced with the proper unit & hi, Uncle Bob.

They are just over £100 for a stock one from cats2u:

I would suggest looking at the O2 sensor readings - do you have an OBD2 reader? Might be worth plugging one in to check that all of the O2 sensors are working with the correct voltage etc, I found that 1 of mine wasn't showing any voltage so swapped it out, passed emissions without any issue. Considering it has passed MOTs fine before it sounds like it might just be a bad sensor somewhere throwing the fueling out rather than a mapping issue.

The SP240 is mapped for the flow of the 200cell mind. It was a pre-requisite for going from the 200 to the 240 turbo kit

Hi all
Redline checked the car today. All the mapping and sensors were behaving correctly. As it is only the CO2 emmissions that are out, they believe it is a cat problem. They were suprised mine has lasted so long. New 200 cell cat now on order and being replaced in a couple of weeks (the day before my MOT runs out!)
