Interior light not working fuse location??

Hi I have just acquired a 2001 Mr2.
The Interior light works but not when the door is open only when the switch is operated manually.
No door open warning lights either, this appears to be on both doors. I suspect a fuse rather than a switch as it's both sides. But which fuse is it? The handbook does not say as far as I can see??
Any ideas, cheers.

If the light comes on using the built in switch then it's not the fuse.

The door switches connect one side of the light to ground and are prone to corrosion around the ground connection screw - remove them and give them a damn good clean.

Leave it as it is. You'll only get upset with all the bonging, and the light doesn't show anything anyway

One other possibility is that the light switch is not contacting in its middle position.  A spray into the switch with contact cleaner is worth a shot.

Have you checked that the door open/close sensor isn't stuck?

What do you mean? If you mean the switches in the door, I found it odd that both aren't working. Is there another sensor I need to consider then m1tch??

My money is on the switch in the light unit.

Would that also explain why the door open warning lights on the dash don't work though Carolyn??

Nope it's either the switches in the door-jam or a wiring fault. My money's on the switches and that they didn't both fail at the same time but you've only just noticed.

Makes good sense.

Going to investigate this tomorrow. Should I Also get a warning light if the boot or bonnet are open??

No key in ignition or lights on buzzer or reverse beeper either. Any thoughts please.??

Manual gearbox pre-facelift '2s didn't have a reverse beep - it was only implemented when reverse was moved to be adjacent to 1st. on the 6-speed box

All of the other beeps require the door switches to work.
