When ever I want to pull the roof up I have to get out the car to do it. Their must be an easier way from inside the car

StuC

Are you coming to ding day?
I am sure we all have our own ways. We can have a 'roof up off' lol.

In my case, I unlatch with my left hand from the drivers seat. Scootch down the seat a little toward the peddle. Then with my right hand, grab the roof and lift a little. This presents the centre section, which I grab with my left hand. Then pull both bits up together whilst returning to a 'normal' seated position. Then position the latches and close.
Much easier to see than to type! Lol.

going to need a bit more than that to go on.
Which bit, is the issue?

Original roof?
Replacement roof?
Roof material?
Temp when you are doing it?
Male?
Female?
Tall?
Short?

I'm short, male, have a canvas type materail roof, Temps irrelevent, Can do it in the time of a red light if needed.

Just pull it up with my left hand.
Owned 2 different 2s.
Never had a problem getting it up. ;)
Now down and latched can be a problem.

Don't forget to put the windows down.

6f 1in, male, replacement roof vinyl looks new. It is quite stiff to pull up outside the car so no chance inside :-\

Call the midlife!

Driver's handbook states to do it from outside using two hands (or that could be a different handbook?) so anything other is a bonus.

60% of the time it works everytime...

Second getting out the car to lower the roof, also makes it easier to push those darn "ears" in.

This is sounding like a personals ad.... and a kinky one at that, once we go into details about getting things up... and most importantly if they stay up or down :o

Never needed two hands, it's doable, but let's be honest, it's not big enough to really need it :o :o

Seriously though: new Robbins Mohair roof: goes up/down effortlessly from inside the car. Regardless of temp, although I do defrost it first if it is really cold/snowy. It normally drops to within half an inch of the latch, but does seem to need a couple of pushes to get it to latch down properly, unless the roof is really clean and the weather is really warm (when it just drops straight down and latches).

On my original vinyl one, it had started going very stiff and started to crack, so when it was anything other than roasting hot, I often had to fold half way, get out and fold/push the back window in a little to get the rest to drop into place.

On both roofs, getting it up has never been a problem, two methods work for me:
1) unlatch with left hand, then if it pop's a little, tilt the wind deflector forward and grab the screen. Haul it forward by the middle.
2) unlatch with left hand, but no "pop", then reach behind your right ear and push the roof up with your right thumb and pull it from the middle as soon as it is reachable with your left hand.

I've never needed to get out with either roof, using either method - I think putting the roof up is BETTER pulled evenly from the centre, rather than from one side....

edit: now checked - I was about to say, "#2 is pretty much how I get it up every time with the mohair one.".... but that might be best left for one of those "other" forums  :o (that I'm NOT a member of!)....

Op was asking about roof up not down.
Down sometimes in winter I have to get out but never up.

MR TWO

Sitting in the drivers seat, I unclip the the latch with my left hand. I take hold of the roof in the centre - where the latch is located- again with my left hand. Simultaneously place right hand over right shoulder and grab the roof. Pull and lift.  Roof is up in seconds.

In some life instances, items which are stiff and hard are definitely a plus; even in a roadster,.  however the roof is not one of them. It should go up immediately, but stay down when not needed and apart from cleaning require minimal maintenance...
