Apexi Power FC for 2zz

Anyone know exactly which Apexi Power FC is needed for a 2zz conversion? There seems to be a load of them. I'm looking at it as Patrick said it's the only standalone ecu he has heard of that doesn't do anything to your gauges!

It did get me thinking....how does it run the stock dash?
It's only rpm and coolant temp that don't work on other standalones but still... How'd they do it?

You can get any standalone you want, they just need to keep the coolant sensor and wheel speed sensors wired into the stock ECU as well so that it can still run the dash.

I have a 1zz PFC (soon for sale) and a Link Xtreme, the PFC completely removes the need for the stock ECU and runs everything, whereas the Link Xtreme is technically wired in 'piggyback' although all engine tuning functions are done via the Link with just the dash and immobiliser etc done using the stock ECU. You should see the HUGE list of codes on the stock ECU at the moment as the OBD2 reader still works!

P.S. I have a few 2zz basemaps if you need any

Does the 1zz work ok with the 2zz then? My 2zz is being fitted with stage 2 cams but I doubt your basemaps would be suitable, so I'd need it remapped. What kind of money do you think you'd be looking?

I didn't think the models were exchangeable. At least, not if it comes with a plug/play harness. You'd have to have the harness repinned for 2zz

I thought that might be the case. I'm working to a budget here so I need to find a standalone that can do what I need (for now) and if necessary upgrade it in the future. My guy here has offered me the ME221 for £695 plus loom which he says is a great budget ecu as he has fitted it to a number of cars recently, including an S2000 with supercharger. I want to put a wide body bodykit on the car within the next few months also, so money is being very carefully spent!

The 1zz and 2zz aren't interchangeable due to the lift on the 2zz, I will see which files I have but I think one of the tuned 2zz files I have does include a cam - other option is to just drop Monkeywrenchracing an email and they might be able to sort you out with a basemap with the mods you have/plan to have - just keep an eye on the AFRs on your wideband gauge though and log them via Copilot using the datalogit or FC-HAKO etc.

I have a base map (mwr) and tuned map for 2zz if you need it.

If things pan out certain way, I even might have 2zz pfc for sale in couple of weeks.

Hi, firstly welcome to the family, secondly Michael hasn't been active on the forum for 6 months or more so he possibly won't see this. You might do better to send him a forum PM, a lot of members have email alerts set up for PMs as well.
