On the @Petrus thread, Southern Belle,  @Ardent and I started to discuss things other than Southern Belle so I thought I'd start this thread to continue that discussion, rather than clog up Petrus's thread.

After my goading @Ardent about his insistence on driving his two in the rainy season he answered :


As it was designed to be.
No where in the owners manual does it say. Under no circumstances use between october and end of march.

That aside. There is the risk of washing it during the summer. Guess where that water goes when it goes through the vents. And even more so when you lift the lid to dry the underside and engine bay.

300 days of sun/year here and those remaining are not all rainy. STill better to keep any water, whether rain or rinsing, off the coils.

Still, essential as it is, it is a cheap bit of plastic and looks like that from new but ever more as the years progress.

Plastidip would do to fresheb¡n it up, as does a coat of paint. A wrap however offers more design freedom; íf you can make it stick; literally.

As marginal as it is. The version 2s sit a little flatter than the version 1.
Couple of extra ribs in the mould underneath.
The starting point woukd be that little bit better.

^^^That looks not the same as my one. Notice mine does not have the lip on the top. I would say the shape certainly leads to promoting rust in some areas.

The plot thickens. I am aware of the minor variations on the underside. Yet the top side looked the same to me.
HOLD THE PHONE Having just had a closer look at those posted above. I am now thinking the variations I am thinking of might be on the top side. Doh!

indeed there is. That is what confirmed the variation. Part number difference.

The Variations are very much up top for all to see.
As another observation. I find the quality of the silver paint(?) on the V1 to be superior to the V2.
